Wow... Missouri House Votes to Nullify all Federal Gun Control Measures, 115-42

I'd launch rounds downrange to defend that:

All federal acts, laws, orders, rules, and regulations, whether past, present, or future, which infringe on the people’s right to keep and bear arms as guaranteed by the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution and Article I, Section 23 of the Missouri Constitution shall be invalid in this state, shall not be recognized by this state, shall be specifically rejected by this state, and shall be considered null and void and of no effect in this state.
(2) Such federal acts, laws, orders, rules, and regulations include, but are not limited to:
(a) The provisions of the federal Gun Control Act of 1934;
(b) The provisions of the federal Gun Control Act of 1968;
(c) Any tax, levy, fee, or stamp imposed on firearms, firearm accessories, or ammunition not common to all other goods and services which could have a chilling effect on the purchase or ownership of those items by law-abiding citizens;
(d) Any registering or tracking of firearms, firearm accessories, or ammunition which could have a chilling effect on the purchase or ownership of those items by law-abiding citizens;
(e) Any registering or tracking of the owners of firearms, firearm accessories, or ammunition which could have a chilling effect on the purchase or ownership of those items by law-abiding citizens;
(f) Any act forbidding the possession, ownership, or use or transfer of any type of firearm, firearm accessory, or ammunition by law-abiding citizens; and
(g) Any act ordering the confiscation of firearms, firearm accessories, or ammunition from law-abiding citizens.

Whoa!Very big indeed.I love it,first Kansas now this,and this is even bigger.
Battle lines are being drawn.

Son of a ... is all I have to say. I live in KS, work in MO. This is awesome! As a Kansan, feels like I've just been emasculated after our new law, cause those bushwackers really have a pair.

add to that, Louisiana passed something similar. more states need to get involved.

Nice! They need to specify that no State or local resources are to be used to aid the enforcement of such laws in any way - no law enforcement resources, jails, or courts - and any lawyer who participates in the prosecution of any citizen under any such law will be automatically disbarred. All of that is within the undisputed jurisdiction of the state and would make enforcement essentially impossible and no direct armed confrontation with the Feds would be necessary.

Are there any penalties or enforcement mechanisms in the bill? If not, it's useless.

The Federal government relies heavily on state and local resources to enforce. It would not be necessary to actually confront Federal agents - just stop helping them. Without local assistance, they would be seriously hobbled. If several states did it, they would be unable to enforce.

can i haz machine gun now?
Neither MO nor the Fed banned machine guns. Some states do but not MO. MO law is that you must follow federal law when it comes to machine guns. This bill doesn't change that section of MO law from what I read, so MO could still use some improvement there if it wanted to be like the freer states when it comes to machine guns. You are welcome to read the bill. http://www.house.mo.gov/billsummary.aspx?year=2013&bill=HB 436

Yeah, and then they'll cut off all federal transportation funding. That's how they get ya. Dangling carrots. I worked on the MO 18to drink campaign and they threatened to pull all federal transportation funding if the bill were to pass.

True. A state would have to be willing to forego Federal funds. But the Federal government can only use that club once and then they are done unless they stage a military invasion.

The Federal government banned all newly manufactured or imported machine guns back in 1986. While you can still buy a machine gun made before that date (with a Federal permit and tax) the practical consequence of the ban on any new machine guns has been to drive up the cost so high that only the wealthy can afford one.

I am well aware. I hardly think you have to be wealthy to afford a machine gun, though. I know several middle class folks with machine guns.

Machine guns by state

They should respond by refusing to send the Federal Government any tax money and arresting all IRS agents in the state and giving them life sentences unless/until they either stop taxing or stop blackmailing...

Obama would try. But there would be resistance. Likely outside the state as well.
