For those with confusion on Huckabee's sales tax.
It's actually 30%.
For every dollar, you add up 30 cents for a total of $1.30. But when you calculate 30 cents of $1.30, it is 23%, which is the number Huckabee uses. But add up to that the local sales tax, and it goes higher.
It is a slightly better solution, but not that good for the poor. For example, a person that makes a million a year and someone that lives paycheck to paycheck both would pay, say, $300 extra on $1,000 of food a month.
Which hits hard the one that lives paycheck to paycheck while $300 is nothing to the millionaire. It is calculated that super rich people would end up paying not even 2% of their income in "fair tax". So it's not very fair.
