As you all know, there are very dangerous anti-freedom slippery slopes in play. Not just in our laws, but in our culture. We are becoming desensitized to loss of freedom. There are no protests outside the White House over CISA. Establishment Republicans prioritize a 0.5% increase in safety over preserving civil liberties. America's voters are moving farther away from prioritizing the long term future, and more towards instant gratification with socialism. By the time America becomes corrupt enough for a war to be waged on the government to be morally justified, (perhaps 200-300 years from now), the nation will be permanently desensitized to the problem. Voters will be even dumber than they already are if socialism takes over. Socialist nations tend to produce a populus that doesn't give a damn about politics and therefore can't sense corruption. Corruption will come into play. The government isn't going to suddenly become evil, and it's not going to be obvious that war needs to be waged to each generation that was born into a world only slightly more conservative than their current world. In other words, evil will creep in so slowly that the people won't realize it's happening. The only way we can have a shot at preserving liberty-sanity in future generations is if we make a law or Constitutional amendment such as the following.
The law, possibly called the Permanent Freedom Preservation Act, would specify a certain level of corruption that the government may turn into in the far future. It would be a definition of corruption that most everyone, Democrats and Republicans, currently agree with. It would describe a series of laws, regulations, and/or positions that an evil government would have. Examples include: making free speech semi-illegal, police state level mass surveillance, complete gun ban, communist use of taxes, and other North Korea esque aspects. These are just examples, and not the exact list that the Permanent Freedom Preservation Act would state. After making this list of aspects that an evil government would have, the act would say the following: "If 1/3 of the aspects on this list become law by our U.S. government, it will then be legal for the American People to wage war against the government." Now you may be thinking: "Wouldn't a corrupt evil government just repeal this act, and make war against them no longer legal?" This is why the act would also say the following: "Should our U.S. government ever repeal this law, it will then be legal for the American People to wage war on the government." This part of the act is 100% justified, because the only government that would try to get rid of the Permanent Freedom Preservation Act is an EVIL government. The government could not get rid of it without admitting that it is evil, and alerting the American People.
This law would not be for us, but for the far future generations that may need it. Some will say that this law isn't necessary, because the people don't need a law's permission to rebel. But I believe that this law would be necessary moral support, just like our founding fathers' Constitution is for us today, for our far future generations to realize the truth about what freedom really is. There will not be any other country to save us if the government becomes evil, because most of them are further down the anti-freedom slippery slope than we are.
