Would Romney still debate Paul if all the other candidates drop out after South Carolina?

South Carolina is our Waterloo.

Winning South Carolina is CRITICAL.

Barring an act of God Ron is not going to win SC.

It looks like he his poised to finish top 3 exceeding all expectations. Ron making inroads like this in a state like SC is very promising for the campaign.

Romney went over a year ducking any interviews, even with friendly FOX. Of course he'll duck a 1 on 1 with Paul unless it's perceived to be absolutely necessary. The MSM will try to see to it that the race is over after this month, regardless of the facts. But the Paul campaign has already factored in how to win despite this scenario, and is currently performing much better than its own expectations.

Yes, he will have no choice because Ron Paul will be winning by the time all the others drop out.

Yes, moderated by Stossel :D Of course, Romney wont be there in person. I think they should get SNL's Mitt to fill in for him.

He would have a choice. I don't believe he would debate Dr. Paul. Even if Ron wins states as the others drop out.

Debates are already scheduled through March. If the race is close at all I think the Paul campaign could use it to there advantage if Romney refused to debate him. Just keep calling him out; make him look weak;)

If the race isn't at all close no one would fault him for not showing up.

I agree that Newt stays through Florida, but do you really think he'll be included in Super Tuesday?

Yes. Georgia is part of not-nearly-so-Super-as-in-the-past Tuesday, as is Tennessee. And Bama and Mississippi are close after. I think Newt would like to stay around long enough to see if he can get some traction from that.

Romney is so arrogant, conceited, and desparate to become president not to mention help from the moderators that he will think he can take the good doctor.

It would be disastrous for Mitt to ignore Ron Paul at any time. We hold a controlling stake in this election and the GOP and they know it. Besides I don't see many Evangelicals voting for Romney. They will stay home if he is nominated. I don't think the GOP knows whats about to transpire but hopefully their not stupid. And by stupid I mean nominating Romney.

Very doubtful Romney would condescend to debate Paul one-on-one. He would be too afraid to do so.
:D

If Ron would challenge Mutt to a debate and he refused the media would do their best to see that no one knows about it.

Just a reminder, Mitt Romneys role is not to win the General but just the republican primary, that way the status quo is ensured regardless of an Obama or Romney victory.

This is why the powers that be and thus Romney dont care about RP support in the General
