Would any of you support a Liberty Candidate in Kentucky.... [UPDATE: Draft page up]

He would walk away with it I think if we supported him.

Traditionally Republican/Democrat, or a new district entirely? If it's new, what do the precincts look like?

I love small races like these. What are the laws in KY regarding donation limits for state offices?

I understand the deadline is fast approaching. Let's get some logistics figured and maybe some financial pledges to see if we can convince him.

$1,000 limits. It's a traditional conservative Dem but.... his family has been there forever.

Oh, and you know who's home district it is (hint: the one on the right):

Also, in 2008 the incumbent who is now running for Senate Barely won. Tim Thompson 7,156
Martha Jane King 8,351

The GOP primary is very few votes:
Tim Thompson 526
William "Billy" Hall 381
Michael J. Smith 74

I think Scaringi is the best choice.

He is going to have a tough battle. Rohrer has good name recognition and Welch reported a million cash on hand recently.

True, but I don't care what the political establishment does. When you suddenly see someone like Steve Welch get $1mil and not from us throwing a moneybomb, it just isn't good. Rohrer would just pull a Rubio on PA and I don't want that. As long as I tried I don't care. I donated quite a bit to Adam Kokesh's campaign and Peter Schiff's campaign. They didn't win, but it felt right. Then I go on to see what Peter has accomplished in recent years since then and I can say "I donated to his campaign and supported him" same with Kokesh. Regardless if he wins or not, I don't want liberty candidates to disappear into the shadows and in my mind they all deserve our support regardless.

How much money is needed to win? Is it an open seat, or an incumbant seat? A ttraditional REP or DEM seat?

Since you mentioned it. Phil's Campaign manager was the one who floated the Hightower story to the press that got him fired. Now you will understand why we had issues.

Chris helped Rand so much prepare for the issues.

Where did you hear that Adams did that? If so then that is f'ed up.

Sounds like a no brainer to me.. spend a few thousand on mail and yard signs for the primary.. couple that with a nice canvassing strategy with the candidate and a few key volunteers; you're virtually guaranteed victory in the primary.

I imagine 2012 will be a relatively strong year for Republicans, so it's a shot worth taking.

Chris, I know you're reading this. File the paperwork.

45,000 was spent by winner in last race.

Not sure on PAC. 45k for total.

Sounds winnable to me. What do we need to do to convince him to run?

Assuming his platform checks out (which it will), I pledge $100 to the primary, and another $100 to the general.

I'm strongly considering it. Thanks for the encouragement!

P.S. It seems like gambling and abortion are the two major issues of the current opposition.

Strong believer in liberty, proven track record, has a source of ample funding, well connected to the district, knows the local issues...

sounds like a no brainer to me!

Any idea what the district looks like?

I wish Rand would disregard his non-endorsement courtesy and turn KY into a real free state project. But, alas..

Rand doesn't endorse?

I've got him on Facebook, I'm going to write him a message telling him to run!
