Bumping to be able to keep track of this thread while I think about what I want to write. Thanks....
As far as I know, the only pictures of me on the internet are 30 years old, and I didn't upload them - someone else did. (Damned Facebook!) I wouldn't mind finding a new place to hang out, since this place is bugging me a lot lately, but I don't want to put a picture up.
Yes, for now the focus is Ron Paul but if this really catches on we are fully prepared to transition it to more of a general website where women can explore the issues with an eye towards individual liberty and sound money.
The dream thing is just one aspect of the site. More practical information will be available. The hopes/dreams of real women are needed because most of what Ron Paul is advocating has not been the case in living history so there is no strong oral tradition or memory of things being that way. While RP is a wonderful guy he does a bad job of helping women who are new to his ideas imagine "a world with President Ron Paul". So, we're filling the void.
Terrific, I mean that.
BUT that is future. SCALABILITY is good. Someone who works for hourly wages can never earn more than there are hours in a day. Jumping subjects...mea culpa.
An "eye on the future" does not MUDDY THE ADVERTISING WATERS on the particular SALE that is, in point of fact, connoted by persuading someone to vote for your candidate.
Do you AGREE or DISAGREE that pitching CANDIDATES is more about SALES than EDUCATION?
"[T]here is no strong oral tradition or memory of things being that way" for MEN, either. Or for SENIORS.
NO ONE on this Board has oftener than I pointed out the NEED to win over women, or lose. I most certainly do NOT object to separate-but-equal appeal to Women Voters. I DO suggest a BLIND SPOT in constantly framing Ron Paul in a way that resonates with women who ALREADY support him or who are are MOST likely to line up dutifully behind WHICHEVER Republican.
The idea that WOMEN will sooner/quicker than big, strong men embrace SCARY SCARY CONCEPTS like Autonomy & Reponsibility because they can fearlessly envision SKY'S THE LIMIT possibilities...well, don't bank on it.
Where does Ron Paul stand on MOUNTING violence against women, other than to say he doesn't approve of it?
Is ARMING & TRAINING the only shot Single Women have at being SAFE ON AMERICAN STREETS AFTER DARK?
I wouldn't mind finding a new place to hang out, since this place is bugging me a lot lately
For most women there is an intricate network of connections between what we are thinking about, worried about, trying to remember, need to do, the people we love and prioritizing and dealing with all of these is a real juggling game. Questions lead to questions and more questions which then remind us of a related issue that plays into our initial question but is different from it. We need to get into the subject, explore the avenues that present themselves and satisfy ourselves that we are comfortable not only with statements that are being made but also how they would play out if they are implemented.
Far from being the emotional simpletons that some of you gents like to portray us as we are constantly trying to reconcile the big picture with the little picture and understand how it will effect others as well as ourselves. That's a complicated process and a few one or two line factual statements are not going to convert many women fast although they may provide a springboard to begin a thought process.
Decided to add a brief paragraph to answer the inevitable: "well, none of this thought seems to come into play with the other guys who are running". We are the ones advocating for something radically different, we are the ones making major change and upheaval alarm bells go off in women's minds. If women don't understand how dire our current situation really is (which honestly, most Americans don't) they are going to need a very good reason to engage with someone so different who is also portrayed as "unelectable". To grasp Ron Paul's ideas, especially as they are presented by him and most sites, requires a big initial outlay of time. We're trying to make the initial outlay low with a high reward (understanding) to time ratio.
Would you be interested in me contacting the site admin at CVRP to see about adding a link to your site to the "friends" section over there? Do you have a clickable banner that might be included (not required but I figured if you do have one might as well use it).
In my humble opinion I think this is a great idea, as I see it one of the values of liberty is eclectic voices speaking together on a subject(s).
This is a resource I look forward to having available for use.
Cheers![]()
Sorry for being a dope but CVRP is not ringing a bell. That said yes! We will take publicity wherever women are likely to be on the net Ron Paul supporters or not. We are still getting things set up so no public links yet but there will be banners when we launch. Thank you.
No worries CVRP is not well known yet outside of certain circles (for more info check my sig)
I don't have any site metrics regarding traffic but I figure the more exposure the better for a new launchand the site is plugged into some networks etc so I'm sure it'll help spread the word. Just toss me a PM whenever you have links you'd like to go live, I'll arrange from there.
I'm definitely going to participate![]()
Have you tried "ronpaulgirls" on youtube? There are a fair number of other female Paul-supporters on youtube it seems & mostly young (contrary to the belief that younger women won't support him because of abortion & other "women's rights" issues)
