With all the talk about "immigration" I think a look at the Barbary Pirates is valid

Thomas Jefferson wrote this to John Jay "The Ambassador answered us that it was founded on the Laws of their Prophet, that it was written in their Koran, that all nations who should not have acknowledged their authority were sinners, that it was their right and duty to make war upon them wherever they could be found, and to make slaves of all they could take as Prisoners, and that every Musselman (Muslim) who should be slain in battle was sure to go to Paradise."

The barbary pirates attacked ships that did not pay tribute to them because it was viewed as disrespect to their muslim superiority complex.George Washington was weaker in dealing with Barbary Pirates as opposed to Thomas Jeffersons approach ,he was weaker because he paid them ransom money to the muslim nations of the Barbary Coast that held people ransom. On the other hand when Jefferson became president,he issued letters of marquee and sent marines that marched 500 miles into Tripoli to liberate americans who were taken as slaves and imprisoned during the Barbary wars. Obviously not much changes....especially in the middle east. I hope the president gets the u.s. troops out of the middle east, they dont belong there . But to take in thousands of refugees isn't just as simple as that, Germany just showed bravery to take refugees but they also had massacres because of it. I do not believe in REPEATING ERRORS.....................errors twice over is a mistake.

I no longer believe Ron Paul's policies are effective at this stage of middle eastern warfare...we cannot continue taking refugees in by the thousands without actually figuring out for sure who they are. I understand the all life is valuable, but if some innocent people die because we let in some crazies...there is someone who is responsible for that because it was error turned into mistake. Germany messed up not creating a procedure, its clear now they are having major problems and tension between radicals and their own culture.

Let's disregard history. Ignore the reason for ME instability. Let's just show everybody we have a big heart and then everybody will love us. Aren't we the best attention whores?

I agree with Ron Paul. Immigration is not the problem (even "Muslim" immigration). If the second amendment was freely exercised in this country (it's not, even I don't carry often to avoid goons attention) there would be no "terrorist" problem to deal with no matter how many we let in...

Yeah, even a billion would not be a problem. Nurse!

Do you have specific quotes from Ron Paul where he supports taking in refugees from Syria or other Muslim nations currently in chaos?

I am not aware of any.

I don't think he supports spending tax dollars to bring them. But he definitely wouldn't support a ban on their coming here if someone voluntarily foots the bill.

That's a rather naive statement. Terrorism is a different thing than simple assault. Do you really imagine carrying a gun would save you from a bomb?

Not necessarily but it certainly would help! If 100 people see someone driving a big truck down the sidewalk running people over maybe 30 of them would be shooting at the driver. It would cut his rampage short and save a lot of lives. There is no society that is 100% safe but it would be alot safer with 40% of the people armed. "Terrorists" could still do damage but someone would put a bullet in them as soon as they started to act. A bomb can never be 100% protected against... Last time we had one I don't think there were any foreigners involved.

.....this is still unbelievable. Is this a country or is it an undeveloped territory ? do you just allow mexican cartels to walk around with machine guns across the state lines of Arizona and Texas ,and sometimes with tanks ??? be realistic.

If your label "cartels" refers to people who have committed crimes and can be proven guilty in court by due process, then they should be charged and punished for those crimes. If not, then yes, we have the right to keep and bear arms.

But I also don't see how your response relates to the post of mine that you quoted.

I am not sure that Ron or any sane person has spoken up about providing taxpayer funded resources to bring any refugees here .
