Amash said he would not.

Trump is STILL tweeting horrible things about Rand to this day.

How can he throw his support behind Trump at this point?

I would sincerely hope that Rand is not associated in any way with a Trump presidency and its all-too-certain-failure...

There's enough of an anti-Trump sentiment growing amongst "true conservatives" in Congress that Rand could very safely publicly denounce Trump and refuse to vote for him with little to no backlash.

We will see. Hopefully Trump is not the nominee and this is all moot..... but not likely

If Trump's the nominee, then Rand has already said that he will support him. I expect him to follow through with that, albeit without putting much if any action to it. He can still keep his distance from Trump after having formally endorsed him.

The question is whether or not he'll endorse anyone in the primaries. Supposedly Cruz is going to announce a bunch of Senate endorsements in the next week or so. We'll see if Rand is one of them. I wouldn't be surprised.

I think with Trumps latest tweets he could safely walk back his statement that he would support the eventual nominee even if it were Trump.

In fact, he definitely should.

I also think he will follow through.

I seriously doubt that Rand will endore Cruz or Rubio during primaries, two of the worst candidates on foreign policy. Cruz's FP sounds like that of a religious fanatic.

When I think of the someone whose foreign policy is that of a religious fanatic, I think of Ron Paul.

He should definitely NOT endorse trump no matter what.
I defended him endorsing Romney and campaigning with him, but if he publicly says he'll vote for Trump I think that will haunt him forever.

Like ... I don't think I could keep from throwing up.

I know be said he would endorse him but I will throw a party if he comes out and says "yeah, well, I regret saying that and I won't endorse him. Kinda like how his supporters will regret voting for him if he becomes president. In fact I think a large amount of people already regret voting for him"

this is the type of decision that ought to be made on October 15 and not today...

By endorsing Trump, Paul will show how he is really a team player. If Trump wins the General Election, it could be a great path for Rand in 2024.

He could use the attacks, and say, "When it mattered the most, I put aside petty attacks and helped unify the party to stop Hillary."

And, hopefully after 8 years of President Trump, America will be great again, and Rand can point to all the awesome bills he got passed with President Trump's signature.

Well it can go either way, Rand said he'd endorse the nominee, so if he doesn't then he's going back on his word. Obviously Rand wouldn't want to and if he did it would be as weak of an endorsement as possible.

Ron Paul was not a fanatic...A fanatic is a person that will treat you differently if you do not practice the same religious beliefs.

If I was Rand I would absolutely not. However, he's best to stay out of it altogether. The bigger the circus becomes the more he can use that in the next election cycle and position himself as the only rational choice in the next field.

Even if Trump were to win I highly doubt the GOP would let him run unopposed in 2020.

If Rand does not endorse Trump as the nominee, he will be called a liar by certain people on this site.
If Rand endorses Trump, those same people will be on here calling him a sellout.

Can't tell if this is sarcastic but your name is not "Texan" so I'm going to assume no.

Anyhow- your post is totally fantasy land stuff. You seem to think that people remember anything politically that happens for years. No, as long as the media is alive they will black out Rand or demonize him, and the narrative will be controlled from the top.

I think what is becoming increasingly apparent is that more and more people are getting fed up with team players. I think trump's performance in polls is basically evidence of this. Sure the people are a bit misguided, but it shows a trend. RAND needs to embrace being different. He won't win hearts and minds if he is one and the same.
