Why we lost Nevada

Why more seniors don't vote for Ron Paul

The problem is NOT that older people do not like Ron Paul or what he stands for. The problem is that the vast majority of them have never heard of him. Why is that so difficult for some people on these message boards to understand? Most senior citizens do not use the internet to find out about the candidates. They DO read mail and newspapers, watch TV and listen to the radio. We ae not reaching these people through the media they understand!

Keeping the old people home on election day or waiting for them to die off are not the answers. Telling them about Ron Paul through means other than the internet and helping them get out to vote is the answer.

Frankly, I am surprised (and delighted) that so many young people support RP, given the society they have grown up in. The rest of us remember a time when the federal government did not try to tax us to death and regulate every facet of our lives, as if we are not capable of taking care of ourselves. We would like to get that back.

I cannot emphasize this enough. People will not vote for a candidate they know nothing about, or have never even heard of. It is time to get off the computers and reach these people. Maybe past time already.

like I said it was tried before by the LP and that is the reason why the party hasn't grown by any significant margin. Yes, the youth can't stand up to the numbers of elderly now, but when more of these crudmudgeons keel over we increase and they decrease, ITS SIMPLE MATH! Let's think long term here...

The mantra to older folks is "Ron Paul has been re-elected a REPULICAN for 20 years", "Married for 50 years with the same woman", "Ron Paul has never too a paid govt. junket", "Voted Tax payer's best friend", "Never voted to use Social Security funds".

With Ron Paul's record, there are hundreds of possibilities that would appeal to older votes. This is a total NO BRAINER.

HQ needs to get their head screwed on right. Even Ron Paul should tone down the "Young people love me" rhetoric.

Haven't you heard that old people are set in their ways? If you were an old person would you listen to some 25 year old punk trying to school you on politics and the ways of the world? The only way old people will come over to the Ron Paul side is if they think it's their idea. Its not going to happen by a bunch of pushy, self-righteous kids canvassing door to door, acting as if they've discovered all the answers. TV ads will help. Newspaper ads will help. Ron Paul and his wife, who are old people, going and hanging out with these geezers will help. But never try to tell an old person you know something they don't. They think that knowledge is something accrued through time. They think if you sit on your butt watching reruns of Murder She Wrote every afternoon for 40 years you automatically become a certifiable genius.

I see that Romney and Ron Paul took the first two places in Nevada. Why? Because they both campaigned there, while the others did not--ie. got their messages out to the voters. RP supporters need to get their message out to the voters in all of the remaining states.

The young people may be our future, but those over 50 are the majority of voters today. They are not stupid. If they are, then why do you plan to vote for one?

Both the grassroots and the official campaign need to get the word out to them---immediately. Has anyone tried to contact the campaign regarding all of the voters they are missing by not doing more low-tech advertising? I found a link buried deep in their website.

Please do not flood them with messages, as that would be counter-productive, but a couple of short and clear inquiries about whether they are canvassing this segment of the population may help.

And.......27% of the population are Latter Day Saints......Mormon....Hello?

Yeah I think this is a better indication of why Romney did so well, rather than age demographic.

Older people are not that easy to convince. You have to understand, they've been around for 60, 70, 80 years...They've been programmed by the media for so long, and been through so many fake changes and so much bullshit, that it's hard for them to correctly comprehend what REAL change is.

With older people, I think physically seeing Ron's record, and matching it up with his rhetoric is the best tactic.

That, and showing them that he can win, which is why Nevada was good. We beat everyone who wasn't a mormon there. That's AWESOME.

Electability, and matching record vs. rhetoric is the forumla for the older people.

Oh, I am convinced. I don't disagree.

I was talking about misericordia, not you. I don't get what he/she is talking about. The post about the Virgin Mary is strange.

Do you want the latin vote or don't you?

they are catholic
Catholics believe in apparitions of the Virgin Mary
The Virgin Mary says;

"Don't give up your rights. it will start here." Betania, Venezuela
"Russia will spread her errors to the world, there will be wars and famine, whole nations will disappear." Fatima, Portugal
"The streets will be a river of blood, many will die. This will happen all over the world, unless you change." Kibeho, Rwanda

and, for the American apparition, see http://www.prourladyofemmitsburg.org/

How secure you can be at one moment; and then have your "freedom"---which you call it---be stripped from you, or at least threatened.
emmitsburg, ma
