An easy way to look at a generation is the event that shaped their lives - usually a war. Just like this generation is being shaped by the war on "terra" and Iraq.
Lots of 60+ were living in the post WWII era where they still had icons of war heros defeating a great evil before America went to the dark side.
Some were shaped by Vietnam or Korea and the fight against Communism (whch like Fascism is the complete opposite of Libertarianism).
When you talk to them make sure you understand where they are coming from.
Mormons were a factor, but most older Republicans are still voting for an American ideal. Most of them probably voted for Reagan too.
The surprising thing is that RP IS that generation and hasn't connected with them yet. Seems like it should be a slam dunk.

It's real simple, a full 45% of Republican voters were OVER 60 YEARS OLD! Didn't ANYBODY see that!
