Why we lost Nevada

He comes in fourth and you cry because he didn't come in second. He comes in second and you call that a loss. Am I the only one getting sick of these ridiculous trolls?

"you want to tone down the revolution talk a little bit. "

Yes, EXACTLY. And lots of 17 year olds chasing a news reporter would probably make senior frisbee's out of those DVD's.

I worry sometimes that having such internet savvy supporters may lead to the lose of people skills. In rallies here in Vegas, the tone can seem harsh and probably scary to older, timid people. It might rev us up but we are already the converted. Going door to door dressed nicely and just kindly explaining to people what we believe in would of probably had a bigger effect.

I'm not crying. I am very proud of our turnout here in Nevada. What we are trying to do is build upon our 2nd place by disecting what happened and what we can change to gain more votes and get 1st.

Our goal is to win and we are taking steps towards it.

Remember that some of the most successful people in the world are their own worst critic. That is how they get there.

I don't know about you, but the original poster calls this a loss. That's retarded.

Yeah I guess he should reword it but I think it is important to build upon this 2nd place showing and for people that caucused in NV to give input on their experience on what happened. This way we can find where we are having roadblocks in terms of reaching out to potential voters.

I was at the Vegas Paul-A-Poolosa. We had about 300 people, but I really expected 3000. The car honking was less than I see here in Southern California. I would say overall, the Nevada support was weak and let's face it we lost BAD. Romney eclipsed everybody.

I actually think we got lucky with Nevada, because we did not do much to get the old people on our side.

Because most of us are young, I actually think that sending DVD's is better than canvassing. If we can convince older people to canvas to older folks, that would be great but time is very short.

We need a special "Senior DVD" made quickly. Can anybody help here? Any suggestinns for videos to add to this DVD?

I personally pledge that I will mail 200 in my precinct.

This is what a NH Ron Paul supporter claimed....The Older People Do Not Know About Ron Paul, because he is not covered by mainstream media....WE HAVE TO CONTINUE TO PASS THIS ON TO OTHER STATES....OVER AND OVER AND OVER

I think we need a 60+ special DVD. I'll contact the RonPaulReveres people.

Meanwhile, could you please recommend YouTube videos that would appeal to old folks?

I don't mean to throw cold water on your idea, but a lot of old people I know have barely gotten used to music CDs and VCR movies. I know I don't speak for everyone, but many older people are slow to accept new technology. Unless some younger family member has given them a DVD player and some DVDs as a gift, the chances are good that they don't own one.

Loosing 14% to 52% is a LOSS. It's a BAD loss.

We can glee about Giuliani and all the others, but it's still a massive loss.

The strategy has to change IMMEDIATELY.

We need to target this campaign to 1) Older folks 2) Women.

Yes, some may not have DVD players, but rarely will people throw out a new DVD. They will pass it on or watch it with friends that have DVD's

I personally would like to add the rich and wealthy to that list. Many of them seem to vote Republican but aren't attached at the hip to any religious voting guidelines. There was very little support or awareness in my neighborhood for Paul's tax stance. They would be the ones who benefit most.

Romney really decimated my precinct even though it was small but I am sure nearby precincts voted along similar lines.

"add the rich and wealthy to that list"

Yes, excellent point. Where do we find these old rich people? Ana Nicole could have helped here.

Why We Really Lost in Nevada

Because Ron Paul isn't very popular. He leans to the younger voters only. He has too much bakebone.

We lost because more American's wanted Mitt Romney as their president. If people wanted Ron Paul, they would have voted for him even if he was buta.
We have had too many whack jobs, and conspiracy nut cases, too many people screaming "gold standard", and too many people waving signs in a frigging blizzard. Too many ad's about prostitutes supporting Ron Paul.

And Ron Paul's honesty and lack of corruption also played a part. His support for de-criminalizing herion and other drugs.

Which is the same reason why he lost every other primary.

Do not go after older Republicans

I think its insane to go after these older voter 60 and up. They have lived in socialism their whole lives, and will never turn towards Ron Paul. Now before people start thinking I'm talking about all of them, no I don't mean all old people. But, it is harder to change their minds than any other voting blocs around. They want their social security check, they salivate thinking of all the pills they need, and they're easily won over by a smiley face clean cut family man I like America just like it is kinda guy. About 15 years ago the Libertarian Party deluded itself into thinking it could court older Republicans into the party better than any other group...INSANITY, it didn't work!!! They are the ones that got us into this mess and they sure as hell won't own up to it! The youth are the most malleable, open-minded, voters out there. They have the most to live for and do not trust the establishment (unlike old folks who suckle from its teet). Romney only won decisively because most Mormons apparently would rather vote for one of their own than for someone who is for America, plain and simple. I just wish Paul would have spent a little more time in Nevada and given himself a more decisive 2nd place

Do you realize how many voters there are above age 60? Alot. And they vote more than people under 25. That, my friend, is a fact.

You're probably right about a lot of them. But we're definitely going to need to convince some of them or we'll get nowhere. Why are they so fixated on maintaining the status quo? Don't they realize they're going to die off soon (I'm 45 BTW) and leave the rest of us holding the bag? Somehow, we never to overcome their self-centeredness or whatever you want to call it.

The youth is not dependable enough to build a win on. I was the only one under 25 that wasn't Mormon on the floor of the high school where they held the caucus.

It is what killed Obama here as well. He was by far the most popular canidate at my college but most decided to sleep I guess.

A funny thing is that after the caucus I picked up a six pack at my grocery store and the clerk probably just a little older than me noticed my Ron Paul button and asks me about it. First he had no clue who he was, then I told him I just came back from the caucus and he didn't even realize the caucus was today. Some of the bag boys and girls whom all were Obama supporters came to talk and keep saying "we are voting today?".

Well, if we can win the youth vote (which we actually aren't yet) but they don't really show up to the polls, AND you think we can't go after the geriatric vote who actually do show up at the polls, who do you suggest is fertile for voting RP?

I wish I could believe that most senior citizens would watch the DVDs, but I cannot. I remember too well the comments a while ago when someone decided to deliver AOL internet CDs to the local senior apartments. "Somebody left a funny looking little record on my door. What am I supposed to do with it?" Put it on a shelf and save it, of course.

I vote for low tech---newspaper ads, flyers, etc., but don't take my word for it. Ask people who actually work with seniors and know how they think and where they get their news.
