Why we lost Nevada

There's just not that many Mormons. Romney inspires confidence to older folks that watch TV. Ron Paul would also inspire confidence, but he's never on TV.

The DVD's are very good and probably the cheapest advertisement we have. Only 39 cents. I think most older people (at least those mobile enough to go vote) have DVD's.

We need to target the DVD bombs (www.ronpaulreveres.com) (www.ronpauldvdbomb.com) to the 60+ crowd.

It makes no sense to send DVD's to 18-16's that all have the internet.

I watched the CBS Evening News tonight and they didn't mention who placed where after they mentioned Mitt winning Nevada! They mentioned other candidates but not a single mention of RP in either their coverage of Nevada or S. Carolina! Usually I don't watch the TV news because it's worthless.

This might explain 90% of the Mormon vote going to Romney. If I got all my info from the Nightly news, I would not be able to honestly tell the difference between the candidates. I'd just vote for who ever was the most like me. If it came down to religion that's how I'd vote.

2nd Mitt owns Clear Channel Communication. Rush and all those other "conservative" talk show host who work for them Mitt have been doing nothing but tearing other candidates down, and building Mitt up. I blame the MSM for this loss and idiot who follow it rather than a religious group.

Who lose because people don't think Dr. Paul can win and they don't want to "waste" a vote. 2nd place helps change that perception. I'd like to start seeing Dr. Paul hammer that point home. "I have been beating Rudy and Fred ... they entered the race with more name recognition and money... now that has flip flopped"

It was reported on our local las vegas meetup.com messageboard that romney's son came into the caucus room to speak as did someone for McCain and they were NOT part of the caucus. I don't know what is happening with that, but the woman was encouraged to report it to the Party...

We need to all connect with more elderly. Old people are very involded and we need them.

Assisted living centers,
retirement communities,
trailer parks,
hospitals

They're a lot easier to canvas. People are HOME!

I'm tired of knocking on doors with nobody home!

Another place are PennySaver newspaper ads. Dirt cheap and well read by older folks.

Ron Paul wants to phase our social security. Even though that wouldn't affect any old person already on social security - they get easily scared.

he has information on his site and elsewhere about the measures he would take to PROTECT old people's social security!! look this up and talk to people about it! he is for letting younger people out of it, but those who, through no fault of their own, really, that have become dependent on it, he would protect. get this correct info out there!

you are describing much older voters while thinking of nursing homes, the people you want are out there doing ordinary things. maybe they had plastic surgery, and you do not recognize them. they are shopping and getting their cars fixed just like us. find them and let them know. they have old parents ON social security, and they want them to stay on it, so they do not have to support them.

ps, call social security on their phone and ask if thee is money, hear what the people who work there say. they say there is enough.

The 50+, and especially 60+ age group has been all along where the main concentration should have been. That's who always goes out and votes. All these people youtubing this and that wasn't doing any good with the older crowd who don't sit around surfing the net and smacking bubble gum. Major TV ads were really the ticket for this crowd, and some newspaper ads, as well as canvassing of course, and visiting places they hang out.

Great call

Clearly, this calls for a Logan's Run solution. Kill all people over 30. It's last day.

read my post #28, and contact these old and older people!
go to the site, and read the issues!

Anyone know the percentages of the population for those age groups in NV? Would like to see the turnout ratio in each group.

From my experience this morning I will say there was a percentage of religious voters that we would have little chance of persuading on our side. There was some though that I believe could be enlightened. I posted a thread earlier about how in my precinct which is somewhat upper class had no other Ron Paul supporters besides myself. There were a quite a few Fred Thompson supporters and I might credit this to the fact that he held fundraisers in the country club in my neighborhood and met with many of the wealthy in Southern Vegas. I think we are missing this demographic of high income citizens, which should really fall in love the proposed tax plans of Dr. Paul. I would love to inform these people myself but I am young and look even younger so my opinion doesn't really hold any water with them.

A little warning, don't be fooled into thinking that all of Mitt Romney supporters were Mormon. It was just not the case. He had many voting for him because he was seen as an economic or financial guru.

read about social security on the site, and go tell people the right information. otherwise he won't win. people care a lot about this.... it is their interest in finance. they do not follow the rest of it at all, unless they are investors.

We MUST convince older people BEFORE Feb 5. These older Republicans will NOT switch party to Liberterian later.

This is a MUST DO activity.

I'm dropping the Blimp, sorry. It's old folks now for the next 3 weeks.

Sorry, but elderly and freedom are pretty much incompatible.

That's a dependent time in one's life.

Not sure how to change the minds of people pretty much set in their ways.

Not holding caucuses at nursing homes would be a plus.

That's true and very useful.

Get your precinct director (or meetup leader) to RE-RUN the canvassing database for 55 years & up. The age of the voters is in the database.

Use that for canvassing.

Mail them a DVD if you don't want to walk. Maybe your precint director can print mailing labels for you.

It's ALL about old folks, particularly on the Republican side.
