Why Purchase Silver By The oz...?

You're never going to go to a Wal Mart and buy something with that coin. You can't even use a 2 dollar FRN in most places without them doubting it. You will be able to go into a mom and pop shop and barter, though.

You should keep in mind that a monetary collapse doesn't necessarily equate to all out panic and chaos. I think it's likely that it will be a relatively quick and smooth operation since the elites already have it all planned out.

If you have a lot (4-500oz+), you shouldn't necessarily hold onto silver forever. Eventually the stock market and real estate market are going to collapse again and at that time, you're going to want to start buying into those markets. For real estate, you'll be acquiring cash flow real estate where you can rent it out for a long time to come.

Think of it as an investment and protecting your wealth. It doesn't have to be one way or the other.

I don't necessarily agree that there is going to be a smooth transition. The problem with our economy is not simply bad money. The bad money, along with other bad policies, has done massive damage. That collapse of the dollar is going to expose that deep damage and it is not going to be easily and swiftly papered over. We are going to face great austerity. And the underground economy is going to get BIG.

On the other hand, I agree with you that exchanging metals for land at some point might be a good idea. Hording metals and food is short term. Arable land is long term.
