I'm thinking it is because Davis is a state level politician, not really well known outside SC.
I know Davis is a big Tea Party guy and all...but is he really that important or relevant? I ask because there are no state legislators in Texas that I see as key figures that could make a difference in the Presidential race.

My parents live in SC, and it is being covered on the local news. It is not a national story. The only people this is important to is South Carolinians and political junkies.
The SC TEA Party groups were all meeting in Myrtle Beach this weekend and the Tom Davis endorsement announcement was the most anticipated event. My Mom is actually a leader of one of the SC county TEA party groups (she's 60). I've converted her over to Ron Paul and she was excited to hear that Davis was endorsing Paul. She went to the speech and brought several of her friends from her group. She said they all came away thoroughly impressed with Davis, Paul, and all of the young, intelligent supporters that were there.
If this anecdotal experience is shared by a few others in the other SC TEA party groups, this could be HUGE here in South Carolina. The TEA party groups here see themselves as the conservative ACORN. They vote, they organize, they get people elected. The Davis endorsement is extremely important within SC. Maybe not nationally, but definitely it is huge news locally.
Why does it seem that Huntsman bowing out and endorsing Mittens got more play than our Davis endorsement. Our endorsement hit the ticker on CNN, but I never saw any drudge love.
What is going on here?
How will SC see an endorsement though? Do people actually change their vote based on an endorsement. If Colorado Michael Bennet endorsed Romney or Obama, it wouldn't change my vote one bit.
I guess I'm trying to get an actual weight to an endorsement. Can we get a feeling from the internet from the SC Tea Party and how they feel. I want proof in the pudding.![]()
Hey here's a thought... What if Huntsman's dropping out was timed to steal the news away from the Davis endorsement?
Since Huntsman was going to drop out anyway, and some on this forum were speculating that the only reason he didn't drop out after NH was to hurt Ron Paul. The media is already asking why Huntsman chose to drop out at such a strange time, a week before the SC primary, when he already said third place in NH is a ticket to advance, hello SC, etc... Seems a bit fishy.
(And I know this is my first post, so someone will probably accuse me of trolling.)

anknot planned well? Seriously? We've been drooling over this for a week. Everything was planned just fine.
However... because it was planned so well, the opposition knew about it. Phone calls were made. Huntsman's dropping out couldn't have been predicted by us, sure, but it was definitely decided upon as the best way to change the narrative. Huntsman got something in exchange, you can be sure of that.
