THIS is an important point, though it does NOTHING to rationalize pay disparity defined as samejob/sametraining.
Hourly workers will be docked their pay. For some small businesses, they LIKE a super-organized multi-tasker who gets a lot done but also takes more-than-usual time off. It saves 'em money.
Salaried positions, too, different companies have different arrangements. Outside hourly workers and the COMPETENT SUPERVISORY PERSONNEL WHO ARE THEIR TO OVERSEE THEM, the 9-5 paradigm is pretty archaic. Particularly given our transportation, energy and traffic problems.
The problem here lies in regulations/reprisals for FIRING workers when it becomes OBVIOUS that the employer and employee are mismatched.
