Why is everything out of stock??

I've been looking into buying some kind of rifle (M1A/AR-15?), and everywhere I look online, not only is it pretty damn expensive but they're all out of stock!

I'm new to firearms and such, so I don't really have a good understanding of the market. Is there a production season or something? Or does this have to do with the "Assault Weapons Ban" I've read about everywhere...

Thanks
~Justin
I can't even find bricks of 22's. What is going on?

Went to Wal Mart yesterday for a bit more 00 12 gauge, 9mm and 7.62 39.
They had nothing...
He said the last truck that came in only had (1) box of 12 gauge shells on it.
I asked what was up and the guy said that the manufacturers were holding all ammo for the price increase.
I asked how much.
He said 500%.
He blamed it on Obama.

Guy down the road was selling some of his ammo for .50 a box. We bought all we could, then went back to get the rest and it was gone. In the span of about 10 minutes.

What price increase? How can it be because of Obama, unless it's caused by legislation? Or, is this just the manufacturers taking advantage of the opportunity to make more money?

dont believe it. How many companies could go on paying employees and other bills while sitting on their product? Right now they can sell everything they make, thats some real volume. Theres more to it they aint tellin.

The guy works at Walmart. He was probably speculating because if he was smart enough, he'd have a better job. Don't believe everything you hear.

The guy at my local dealer called a few of the major bullet companies and talked to some high up management. He asked if the the government was subsidizing bullets to get them off the market, the worker's response was 'I can't comment on that.'

Everyone is stockpiling because only the blind can not see what is going to happen.

I put ammunition in 3 categories (A) Essentially mil spec - meaning either M193 or M855 for 5.56 (B) Close to spec - either velocity too slow or a step in manufacture skipped, such as primer not crimped (C) Anything that might fire

In the last 12 months, I have not been able to score any (A) since January, and have some (B) which I have for practice. As I have a war reserve of (A), I have not been reduced to having to buy (C). I almost never see any (A) on the market, (B) sells out quickly, and even (C) will run out at some suppliers.

All in ONE

This bad boy can do it all get slugs you can hunt big game 3 adjustable chokes hunt different birds or varmants if needed. then you have 5$ a box skeet rounds good if you just need Ammo! and shotgun ammo is overflowing on the shelf right now I am not sure why I would take a 12G over a .22 anything anyday.

I love this semi auto little Bastard it can really do it all in one.

It's called "Supply and Demand" look it up in any reasonable economics book.
You'll find most Gun Stores are calling it an Obama Sale, ever since we all knew he'd be POTUS, we've been stocking up on everything gun related.

I found tons of Federal American Eagle flat point 9mm today and also lots of Blazer 9mm. I had already bought 100 rds. of Winchester FMJ 9mm, a box of Winchester SXT and an extra mag for my SR9 so I was pretty much tapped...otherwise I would have bought lots of the AE.

Ammo is coming back, slowly but surely.

I have no idea LE.
Just passing on what I was told.
That was in a East Alabama Super WalMart by the way.
I'm going back over there tomorrow to see if anything has changed.

The M1A is a good choice for a rifle but be warned .308 ammo is rediculous unless You go with wolf which is a big NO NO in such a nice rifle. I would recommend getting a S&W AR-15 that shoots the 5.45X39 round. The round is dirt cheap like 150 for 1000 rounds and its more accurate than the .223. The only problem with a .223 and the 5.45X39 is it won't do crap against rifle plates and body armor. So that in itself is a good reason to use the .308 or .306 round because it will go slam through a rifle plate just like a hot knife through warm butter.

Well I went to wally world today and found out what everybody has been sayin is true. They were out of just about everything. Not even a box of 22LR.

But they did have some 12 gauge slugs and 100 rounds of .223 so I bought it all. They did have some big win stuff, 30-06, 243. ect. No .308 to be found though.
