I think the reasoning is this: As long as Mitt is in the game, the other candidates will only be coveted temporarily. However, if Mitt is knocked out of the game, the establishment will hook a nitro tank to Santorum or Huntsman and declare them the new front runner, giving them all of Mitts support. They would have all the momentum, like McCain in '08.

Mitt is an easy target on the issues, and Ron Paul will feast on him in the debates when it comes down to the two of them.

I don't agree with other saying that going after Romney will push his votes to the other idiots. Ok, yea, their second choice may not be Ron, but what difference does that make? The only way that we can truly win this is by somehow convincing these standard neocon non-Paul voters to abandon the pro-war bullshit. If they stopped saying, "I don't like Paul's foreign policy" then we'd have them!
