Why has youtube restricted the views on Ron Paul videos?

It's part of youtube's algorithm to fight view count fraud. They want to make sure all the views/likes/comments are natural and organic and not part of some scheme using bots/computers to fake views.

It's not only Ron Paul videos, but ALL viral videos go through this process as well.

Exactly.

My sister just asked me this the other day, and I had trouble explaining why the views "stick" like that. A server move (or rather, a move to an entirely different cluster in another facility) would actually make sense...sort of, at least if the views are halted when the decision to move the video is made, and they're routed through the new server, but the video is still routed through the old one for a few days...or something. It would make more sense if that's tied with some kind of view fraud prevention algorithm that deliberately delays the views, though. The videos themselves are always online, and serving up the stream is far more taxing than incrementing a counter, after all.

im not saying its a conspiracy

i asked for an explanation, i got one

but am i wrong in saying some videos servers get changed quicker than others? and is it fair to say that this is detremental to any kind of potential popularity Ron might have have by having videos hidden away?

strange system, thats all, no conspricacy

Some do get their count update faster than others but it all depends on which batch they are processed with, how fast was the growth volume, how many bot IP's viewed it and more. There's no way to predict exactly when a video will get its counter updated or what factors will make it take longer.

As for it hurting Paul? Not likely. Or at least no more than any other candidate or video for that matter. And none of the videos are hidden away. Unless you are searching specifically by view count.
