Why even bother looking for a job anymore?

work is hard to find anywhere some parts of my state have reported 14 percent and some more than that in some counties, so if you have good credit and low dept load you might still can live simpler without fancy cars and cable TV ex cetera and be out of the city. now would that be nice ;)

homes with land getting cheap 80 grand for 3-5 acres seen the other day with a home on it - if you can sell and move to the country at least it will be no more expensive to live their than in the city-- just saying

I found a 12 acre spot for 24k and was all about doing it but no bites on this place so here I sit.
I can't give it away.
I was planning my farm and everything...

its would be still hard to make ends meet if you dont have a barter system and or tools and a licence to work to offer something to the public to earn money --life still costs money--darn it

They already are and that is the point I was trying to make.
Until these self reliant people give in completely and become State pets they will receive no help whatsoever.
That is, they must sell everything they own, even their vehicles before they meet the requirement for any help.
This is not new however.
They have been building this Plantation for years and we are just now seeing the culmination of their fruits.

Nice to see this sentiment becoming more common on RPFs. I'd been worried about the State-worship trends that pop up once in a while. Stay independent, stay free, young man! :D

Oh and as for all of those who took my much earlier "because there are still jobs out there" reason wrong, there have since been various articles covering how specialized positions that offer good salaries are still not finding qualified applicants :D My point is that there are jobs out there, so there's no reason to get utterly discouraged and stop searching. Your time might be better spent improving yourself in order to prepare for a wider range of employment, but I still think anyone can find a job.

I just got offered a second one... and I might start doing voice-overs again next year heh.

You know what, I hope they do keep extending unemployment forever and tax the shit out of everyone who is too lazy to say NO. Its not like the message hasn't been spread all over the internet and even MSM now. People have no excuse at all to put up with this bullshit. But who the hell am I to try and change people's minds? I guess they like being taxed so I can get my weekly stipend from them. I really believe people will sit around and wait until they get taxed 80% of what they make before they start feeling the pain. That's how damn fat and lazy this country has become. So fuck it, tax em let em feel the pain. IN the mean time, I will take advantage of it and learn how to live without all that cotton money until everyone else decides that the shell game is over. No sense in fighting it.

A bit of "bleeding the beast" as they call it?

Nah... anybody who flames you obviously has a bit of an issue with reality. The reality is that in the course of bleeding heart "socialistic" tendencies, all the "sharing the wealth" bullshit, the flood usually sweeps many away that never would have otherwise found themselves in the situation.

I've been fighting it for a couple of years now but... well... reality is what it is. It does not make you a hypocrite, it makes you a survivor. You're doing what you have to do to provide your basic needs. After my own eyes were opened, I can't count the number of times I read socialistic garbage spewing from the mouths of idiots who WANT to live off of everyone else's prosperity. And, about the same number of times I've thought exactly the same thing. "Fine then, you want socialism and wealth redistribution? Fine then, I hope we get it and I hope we get more than any other country ever in all of history."

You can only have so many, "but these go to 11... " arguments before you realize that there is a significant portion of the population that has NO ideology whatsoever. They are completely morally bankrupt with exception of what they can get for themselves or their "collectives". I suppose, in a more realistic sort of way, maybe this is how atlas finally shrugs. The supposed "entrepreneurs" of our day aren't the sort to take the moralistic high road, rather, they seem to be the very ones leading the charge.

I have to agree with you. Why bother? You're either a tax-eater or getting sucked dry to the point of being one step away from being a tax-eater. (I use the term taxeater lightly, certainly no insult intended).

Now my fault.. The Government creates the losers.

Now we are getting down to the root of the problem. No need to accuse one another or take digs at those who are not to blame.
Someone said we get the Government we deserve. I say we're going to get more of the Government that we tolerate.
Are we going to continue to tolerate this crap?
That is the question.

Not only is the Government creating losers.. they are encouraging losers to be fruitful and multiply. :)

I agree there is still jobs out their some places OK like Seattle , north Dakota, and yes WV where my mom lives but only in certain places, most are low paying but some are good. If my wife worked two minimum wages jobs and I did to we could make it OK but working 12 to 16 hours a day can kill you also and the point is you can do it but your life is just work and broke the minute you get paid so only a moment away from disaster ---two jobs at the min. will not even pay my medical insurance , home ins. auto ins,and house payment let alone food and utilites and fuel and property taxes

costs of goods and labor costs are so high compared to wages and then compared to costs of housing, we are really getting upside down no wonder people are getting depressed and given up...but self motivation goes along way ;)

They aren't phony ads for companies wanting h1b visa workers?

Now my fault.. The Government creates the losers.

I KNOW WHAT IS WAS TO ALMOST STARVE TO DEATH/ We were eating rotten swede peas and digger pine nuts. I was digging out all my day lilies to cook and boiling down bracken ferns. We never once asked for assistance from anyone and the government. We came out of that much wiser and were darn proud of it. I gave a long list of things to do to keep yourselves from starving and if you are too proud or lazy that is your misfortune. Go ahead and break the system and you will all be like chickens that were spoon fed and nurtured but once let out they didn't know how to survive. That is my rant.

lol No, not phony ads. The job I mentioned involves doing a bit of freelance editing, and the voice-over work would be once I get to Toronto. I currently design computer-generated labeling content for and proofread endo-, cardio-, and neurovascular product labeling for a major international company :)

My dad got fired from his job last month for failing a piss test (weed). Turns out the test was part of their "layoff" procedure, admitted during the 3 way phone call with the unemployment office. Instead of just picking people to lay off they started drug testing everyone, from the most senior employees (except management and executives, of course  ) on down. Whoever failed immediately was let go. He applied for unemployment but his ex-employer went out of their way to tell the state he failed a drug test, so no unemployment for him, even though he paid into the fund for the last 6 years. What kind of shit is that? The company ADMITTED it was a layoff procedure, not just random testing.

Anyway, he found another job in less than a month but with a 33% pay cut and is living basically paycheck to paycheck. I think he's one of the lucky ones that found another job so quickly.
