Why does RP Forums show up 78th in search for Ron Paul?

Does this mean you plan on keeping the forum post elections? I have been wondering what the future holds.

If you look in the upper right at the top of the page, you'll see LibertyForest.com ...that's what this will morph into, apparently. We'll be a shadowy organization of seemingly ordinary people with a deep-seated political agenda....*Dr. Evil pinky*

Maybe we will look at it sooner. I thought most people wanted this place to remain semi-hidden.

Well, I for one wouldn't. This place is alive and if you drop by here as a newcomer it will most certainly spark your interest and fuel your enthusiasm IMO. In fact I always like to check the stats in the lower part of your website to check how many people are online and how many of them are guests.

My interest for Ron Paul for example was definitely fueled by this website and I browsed it as a guest for close to a month before I finally decided to sign up and post (on some comment that just so urgently required some rational feedback that I just had to sign up..)

I vote to keep it "semi-hidden."

I doubt the Green Dragon Tavern that the Sons of Liberty met at had a sign on it that said "Revolutionaries meet here"

Okay, so maybe that's a stretch, but I don't think we need to be the first impression a newcomer gets for Ron Paul.

Maybe we could rename the forum- "F-bombs for liberty!"

Okay, I'm gonna go jump into my flame-proof underwear. :o

I guess opinions on it are divided then. Maybe we could hold a poll

The SEO factor isn't so much for the term "Ron Paul." If you aren't on page 1, maybe 2, for a single term... write that term off.

The bigger issue is the millions of lesser terms that count for more than a brand name like Ron Paul.

"Republican abortion positions"
"Ron Paul or Mitt Romney"
"Ron Paul CNN"

All the terms that you WANT to show up second to combat MSM propaganda.

VBSEO
- This puts all the thread titles in the url and title tag. It is HUGE for terms. Traffic will double within three weeks. A link to your forum automatically gives the correct anchor text.

- You can also apply Digg/Reddit buttons with VBSeo

- VBseo converts all these php thread urls to html which is much better for spiders which see them as a hard-coded page vs. a forum.

Htag- The other poster talking about the Htag is correct. That red graphic on the top left is a waste. It can look exactly the same and be red text and be spiderable.

A separate suggestion

Put a blog on the homepage that can host hardcoded posts. It will serve as a landing page for GOOGLE NEWS users who will stick to the forum.

I would much rather pay for the forum upgrade than to donate to the blimp. This is a cheap and effective form of advertising. I'll pay the 120 bucks for VBseo.

We aren't doing too bad with search engines, but I will look at the vbseo.

Yesterday google returned us 10,509 visits from searches.

But I bet they are for Ron Paul Forum not just Ron Paul.

You're #1 for Ron Paul Forums, #1 for Ron Paul Discussion, and #2 for Ron Paul Forum.

RP2008 should be first for Ron Paul and it is. But on that same result page should be ronpaulfoums.com. Newbies will google Ron Paul. It would be nice to see them find this place as well.

This place is busy, exciting, and VERY interactive. People like that stuff. :)

Most people who are going to participate on a forum regularly, have had experience on a forum of some other topic of interest in the past. I have for example been active on both a sports performance/weightlifting forum as well as a dart forum and a golf forum. These are the things that interest me. As of right now I do not post on the other ones, mainly because they don't allow politics (except the weightlifting one, that site has a subforum just for politics) when I discovered The revolution, within the first few days of my reading and cramming on everything Paul I said, I bet there are some forums set up about this. I googled ron paul and forums and found several to my liking.

I only say this because forums can confuse the layperson. There is a TON of info especially here, and someone who doesn't have any or very much experience with navigating an online forum may get overwhelmed and leave. I say leave it the way it is. There are many sites which give out great RP info and news that are much easier to navigate. This is indeed a goldmine of info and opinion, it's just that mining can be a dirty business.

I can testify that the quality of this forum has declined with the number of users. When I started using it, average grass roots central would be 130 or so. Just about every thread was worth looking at. Of coarse one could argue that there was just more to do back then. Now that the ball is already rolling, I think we play less of a roll. Not that I mean to diminish this place, it's just that the revolution is more distributed now.

If Ron Paul announces an independent run this place will go crazy. I look forward to that. I still do everything I can to get him the Republican nomination though. The better he does in the Republican primaries, the more credibility will be given to his independent run.

Sounds good Josh! I hope to see you optimize this forum.

It's easy for all of us to say what's wrong with Ron's campaign, this forum and everything else that is already successful and making an impact.

But, now that you do have the content you can take it to the next level.

Currently Active Users: 1081 (463 members and 618 guests)
If you made the above changes you would start to see the ratio of members to guest hit 20% meaning I'd say 2500 guests. Of course, that translates to more posters and more posters = more guests and so fourth.

I do notice threads timeout and give me a deadlink. VBseo will increase the server load slightly with the html coversion taking place and then of course you have to be ready for 400% more traffic right from the start.

All forums experience growing pains but the good threads will weed themselves out and the reality it we are preaching to the choir here. This campaign and its outlets need to continue to take risks.

I always thought of this place as more of a choir room--or maybe I should say smoke-filled back room--where we can meet to speak freely, compare notes and brainstorm. This is important, but not necessarily something that should see the bright light of day. So, my first reaction is leave it be.

But I confess to mixed feelings. There are introductory threads here, and even departments for newbies, that are good. No, we really don't have anything much to hide--and if we can remember to stop trashing these supporters and those supporters and Christians (or whoever), we'd be safe enough. Certainly I'd wish for the site to come up ahead of someone calling the good doctor a crackpot!

In the end, I'm inclined to tell the administrators to find a good way to push it--and tell us all to be nice and keep a big tent attitude. After all, with Super Tuesday a week away, we either have our winning strategies now or we never will.

Of Course there is always

Making a senior member section. That way anyone who has been here a while (which wouldn't be me) would be able to have thier own more serious playground which others could read into but not post into. I have seen this work with some success in other forums. And the only thing you need to do to make it into the senior members forum would be to stick around and post and not get booted right!

If any of us think this sneak-up-on-em 300-against-the-empire is the plan then it's going to be a long season. We need to take the bad with the good of mainstream.

Another IDEA for SEO
Start a forum with each candidates names for ALL news about that candidate and how RP differs. That will be HUGE for SEO. Hundred of pages on Romney vs. Paul. Top results putting the candidate together?

Do we want to sit in the back of the room playing World Of WarCraft and Magic the Gathering and complain to each other or do we want to GET IN THE GAME??

This forum should be as public as possible. It is far more likely to gain us supporters than to lose them. I don't understand wanting to keep the forum hidden from the voting public. We have nothing to hide and everything to gain.

Right... or we can bitch at each other to send more money during Money Bombs...all 600 of the viewers with 80% donate rate.
