In all seriousness, what's wrong with the message that:

1. God is perfect
2. Every single human being is flawed
3. Because of our flaws (sin), we can never meet the standards of a perfect God
4. Imperfect humans have no place with a perfect God, so an eternal separation (damnation) will result
5. God, in His love and mercy, offers His perfection to us and takes our flaws in exchange, so that we can stand righteous before Him
6. Being righteous, God blesses us for eternity

Seems to me a simple and positive message, that puts shame to any personal self-righteousness ("well, I'm not perfect, but I'm better than most people.") Human self-righteousness has made all the problems that our world knows, apart from natural disasters and disease of course.

So, by all means disagree with the validity of the Christian message, as there is no objective proof that it is true, but don't put down the message. It is a positive one and it makes a lot of sense with what we know about human nature.

After all if everyone went to heaven, including me, I'm not sure I'd want to be there. It would have all the same problems we have on earth, maybe minus the natural disasters and disease. Praise be to God that it's not any of our righteousness that counts, but that of Jesus Christ!

It's more or less the doctrine or dogma. I'm a Christian, but I personally hold the believe that most of what churches teach is total BS, such as the 6,000 year old Earth thing. I also think that most of the Bible was written for the people of the time, without the realization of how things will change thousands of years in the future. I give to the poor, assist the needy, and do my best to live a good life while professing that Jesus is my savior. I think I'm doing pretty alright in that respect.

Because why would a perfect God create so much imperfection? That would make this all a sick game to him. Many people do not like the idea of being ruled over by such blood thirsty dictator.

Like any other religion christianity often divides people and enables bigotry and tribalism.

I realize that these statements might offend you but try to be objective. The freedom to speak out against religion is very much a new liberty in western civilization. For millenniums this freedom of speech did not exist up until recently. For millenniums that type of speech earned one a death sentence; not to mention torture as well. This helps explain what you might perceive as "militant atheism" that you may see especially online. Even today here in the west people are unfairly persecuted in their communities if they express their lack of faith. In other societies death and torture are still the norm for anyone that speaks out against religion. Maybe you can understand blowback after so many centuries of oppression?

Agreed.

1. Why does a perfect god not hear the pain, cries and prayers of the millions who are killed by his followers..
2. Why not encourage human beings to seek perfection and their potential.
3. Why destroy a families honor when a daughter sins.
4. Why is God who allows pillage and genocide so concerned with morality and governance.
5. Why not practice and overcome your own shortcomings.. To not live in misery in this life in exchange for an empty promise of tomorrow.
6. Righteously.

Will those good deeds give you a leg up so you can go to heaven?

People hate Christianity because they hate Jesus. They hate Jesus because they hate God. They hate God because it is their nature to hate God.

In my experience 2 reasons -

1- Because some people have had it rammed down their throat and reject it due to the harsh and forceful nature good meaning people have attempted to impose it upon them. And not to mention that all humans are falliable therefore to the outside observer it's easy to see it as hypocracy at first glance.

2- And you also have some people who absolutely reject any sort of responsibility or anything that isn't self-centered and refuse to submit to any sort of higher authority and reject it on that basis.

Just my observation

I'll also point out that I used to be a preacher, but churches stopped inviting me to preach as my understanding of Christianity evolved.

I think it's less about Christianity more about the Church. From the persecution and torture of non Christians, to the imprisoning of scientists for not having a view that the Church has. To this day if some fundamental christians were in power they would try to stop the teaching of evolution and cosmology. The sad part is I don't think actual Christianity supports this view I think we shouldn't take things so literal in scripture because they were meant for primitive people (heck we're still primitive) to understand.

As far as the doctrine of Christianity there are plenty of things one could point out, inconsistencies, and unsettling undertones. I do have a problem with the idea that a baby, is born with sin, some go as far to think that an unbaptized baby will go to hell

Basically all religions preach teach, love, tolerance. No religion is going to spread without tenets like these because people inherently want to live in peace and have good relations with one another, what sets them apart are the small details many simply don't agree with the specifics of Christianity.

One of the few times I will agree with Collins, at least on the first point.

I do not hate Christians. I strongly dislike zealots who feel a need to ram their beliefs down my throat, uninvited, usually to tell me that this, that, and the other thing are all behaviors that will win me a front-row seat in the eternal fires of hell. I do not seek out people who are wearing religious items, or conservatively dressed, to ridicule them and tell them their religion is stupid. I wouldn't, but you get the idea. I do see people who are so feverishly rooted in their personal beliefs that they look around to see who they can pick a fight with, who they can preach to, who they can make feel like crap and tell that they are going to hell. Somehow, I don't believe that's how Jesus spent his days.

Maybe you can understand blowback after so many centuries of oppression?
What does that have to do with God? Men did these things.

1. Why does a perfect god not hear the pain, cries and prayers of the millions who are killed by his followers.
"When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death." (James 1:13-15)

2. Why not encourage human beings to seek perfection and their potential.
Because that's totally unrealistic. We can never be perfect. It's fine to try, but not be self-righteous about it. No one is their own God.

3. Why destroy a families honor when a daughter sins.
What does this have to do with Jesus?

4. Why is God who allows pillage and genocide so concerned with morality and governance.

The Bible answers this clearly:

What then shall we say? Is God unjust? Not at all! For he says to Moses,

“I will have mercy on whom I have mercy,
and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”[f]

It does not, therefore, depend on human desire or effort, but on God’s mercy. For Scripture says to Pharaoh: “I raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display my power in you and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.” Therefore God has mercy on whom he wants to have mercy, and he hardens whom he wants to harden.

One of you will say to me: “Then why does God still blame us? For who is able to resist his will?” But who are you, a human being, to talk back to God? “Shall what is formed say to the one who formed it, ‘Why did you make me like this?’” Does not the potter have the right to make out of the same lump of clay some pottery for special purposes and some for common use?

What if God, although choosing to show his wrath and make his power known, bore with great patience the objects of his wrath—prepared for destruction? What if he did this to make the riches of his glory known to the objects of his mercy, whom he prepared in advance for glory. (Romans 9:14-23)

I form the light and create darkness,
I bring prosperity and create disaster;
I, the Lord, do all these things. (Isaiah 45:7)

5. Why not practice and overcome your own shortcomings.. To not live in misery in this life in exchange for an empty promise of tomorrow.
Again, not possible.

6. Righteously.
Huh?

It is difficult to come to terms with one's own shortcomings. A bitter pill, as it were. Attacking the notions that require such painful introspection is a means of self-defense. The easiest way to attack is to point out the shortcomings of others who profess to have the faith.

Something to think about: Is there a direct conflict between perfection and being human and having free will?

Why do people hate Christianity?

Most have never seen it..
They have seen political religion called "christian', they have seen a lot of misguided and downright evil people that call themselves "christian".

They have no understanding of Christ. only bad examples.

(they would probably like any Christians the actually met)

So those whom are murdered are sinners?
Human beings shouldn't seek their full potential?
Families aren't forced to expel daughters whom have children out of wedlock?
Victims of Genocide had it comming?
So do whatever your comfortable with, God will pick up the slack.
Was the bible written by socialists?
