Why do conservative talk show hosts hate Ron Paul?

Simple:

Democrats and Republicans like to keep candidates in tight little boxes that fit their platform/agenda.
Ron Paul dares deviate from that! He could destroy their system.
That's why BOTH sides try to ignore Ron Paul. He's dangerous to the status quo.

I think it has alot to with the fact that they are all BIG government conservatives . Without big government with its interventionist policies, both foreign and domestic, what they have to talk about ?

I can't see much need for Rush Limbaugh in a Ron Paul presidency. He just wouldn't be necessary, Ron Paul would make guys like Rush redundant. Ron Paul promotes freedom, liberty and sound money and a sensible foreign policy, you don't need some overweight out of touch dinosaur screaming down the radio force feeding the nation those sort of policies :)

Hannity disagrees with Paul but seems to give him a fair shake. Hasn't Beck come around to the Paul side over the past few years?

None of the Mainstream media but a few corespondents will ever give Ron Paul a fair shake unless it is to the advantage of their pocket book. Follow the money from the owners of these media corporations, it is pathetic I wont believe any of them until I see proof of them saying, quote "I support Ron Paul in 2012"!

Classical Liberals are the true Conservatives. :p

Ron is socially liberal (at least in terms of a small Federal Gov)
The words have been distorted for too many years.

Bah, humbug. Classical liberals are way too radical for "conservatives". That's why you don't find conservatives citing the likes of Mises and Bastiat to any significant extent. They'll certainly borrow on occasion, but that's a different matter. Those that do mention classical liberals at all (like Walter Williams) are more accurately called "conservatarians".

This is the primary key to partisan politics! Well done! :)

I think it's as simple as if they admit Paul is right (which of course he is) they will be admitting they have been wrong they're entire lives. I think some are intelligent enough to realize Paul is spot on about everything, but they are cowards who are unwilling to risk their careers and admit it.

Because his brand of unification in liberty would be bad for business.

On a philosphical level, they are afraid to face the truth that our gov't is a nasty piece of work when it comes to foreign policy. Once one admits that, then one has to reevaluate certain beliefs about past actions of the gov't (Hiroshima, etc.), and that means that America hasn't been as special as current conservative ideology claims.
