It doesn't bother me that most of the media ignores Ron Paul. It's understandable, because to them he is such a fringe candidate that they think he'll never win. And they're probably right. What really, really pisses me off, is the treatment from conservative talk show hosts and columnists. They constantly talk about limited, constitutional government yet they absolutely hate the only candidate who believes in the very thing they preach about. The 2 worst offenders in my mind are Mark Levin and Mark Steyn (a common fill in for Rush Limbaugh). Mark Levin has written at least one book on the Constitution and is always talking about it on his show, yet he hates Ron Paul. I had heard Mark Steyn a few times in the last year and I thought he might "get it". He was constantly talking about how much debt we are in and how we are really on the edge of the abyss and I thought he really meant it. Then I heard him completely trash Ron Paul. He was responding to Newt Gingrich's comment that Gingrich would vote for Obama over Ron Paul. Steyn said he would give the "slight" edge to Ron Paul. He said their foreign policies were a wash but he would give a slight edge to Ron Paul because he at least won't totally screw up the economy and will try to shrink government down to it's constitutional limits. He had just spent the previous entire hour warning of the coming economic meltdown if we don't cut spending, and then he treated Ron Paul's constitutional strength as a tiny little bonus that would give him a slight edge over Obama. You had to hear it to really understand how bad it was. What I'm wondering is do these guys just not understand the Constitution? Maybe they don't think there's much difference between Ron Paul and Romney,Gingrich and Santorum when it comes to adhering to the Constitution? Or do know full well that Ron Paul is the only one who believes in limited, constitutonal government and choose to support other candidates knowing they will violate the constitution on a regular basis? Just so they can get the foreign policy they want?
