Why didn't Paul vote against HR1955: Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism?

Whoops. Spoke too soon. I had another bill in mind and I can't seem to find it right now.

If I had to guess why RP would vote against this, and I don't want to put words in his mouth here, but it would be because it was yet another unnecessary fact finding and coordinating committee to address a minimal threat. Bear in mind all of these people would be well paid for their time rooting around. Paid with your money, of course.

I also think Dr. Paul was campaigning that day so was not even there to vote. I am pretty sure I read that in another thread when this bill was being voted on. I will look for thread

My understanding was that it was a surprise roll call vote. Someone please let us know.

I heard that he actually missed some campaign stops early on so as to not miss important votes, so it makes sense that this was a surprise vote. but I would like to hear the official statement. They probably plan things like that when Dr. Paul is out of town, so they don't have to have him remind them what scumbags they are.

agreed ... if anyone finds an official statement ... could you please post it here... because keep in mind ... even though ron paul knew the vote wouldn't matter in other votes ...(when he was the lone one) he still voted ... so i would like to hear the official reason

bump... people are using this against his campaign ... i would like some answers to give them

first no one is using this against the campaign why dont you see if you own rep voted and start calling him and your sentors about it. But even if he would have voted made no difference not enough no votes and third I am sure he was out campaigning that day so he was not even there now go find something constructive to do cause no one is worried about this except it is going to the senate so write them and tell them to vote no.

wrong ... on digg.com ... many people are using it against him in one of their top stories today ... my representative John Duncan ... was one of the 6 who voted "NAY" ... It doesn't matter if it made a difference or not ... did you not see the piece on CNN about ron paul and how he was the lone voter to always vote no .. 406-1 ... etc. ... and ron paul explained a bunch of the votes he voted no on ... and made alot of sense which strengthened the campaign .... don't take me as being negative toward ron paul ...but he himself would want us to question things of this nature .... how do you know he was out campaigning? ... the 22 was a monday ... he was there voting ... 23 was the day of the vote ... and he wasn't there for any of the votes ... 24 was a wed ... and he was there for voting ... www.govtrack.us ....i don't appreciate you saying i'm not doing something constructive ... this is important to me ...so im sure its important to other people

If people get really picky, tell them he was out campaigning so he can have the power to single-handedly stop legislation like this (veto/bully pulpit/press), instead of just being one of seven (if he had voted) no votes.

why does he bother to be the only one voting no in the others votes he spoke of on CNN ... ???? it is the same thing

he wasn't campaigning ... you just lied my friend .... i have just now found this on a lot of sites

"Today Ron Paul is in New Hampshire to officially file his candidacy papers with the Secretary of State."

so i apologize for all the trouble ... but i just wanted to be sure that i knew what he was doing that day ... and that was a very important thing to do ... they slipped the "suspension of rules" vote in ... probably because they knew he wouldn't be there to speak out ... but anyway thanks for giving me a reason to keep searching !!!!!!!!

No offense, but I think that counts as campaigning.
