Why Did Trump Float Delaying The Election?

For all of you who believe Trump is a skilled tactician who is playing 4-D Chess (I am firmly in the camp that believes he is a well-intentioned doofus) please help me to understand what Trump is trying to achieve by floating the idea of delaying the election? How does that help him?

I dunno , but I assume he would want to have a real election where people go to polls and vote and not a fake , mail in dem election with fraud so deep he knows it cannot be overcome. That would be my guess .

Ya, you have to look at what he is responding to... The left keeps claiming there is "no evidence" that mass mail in voting leads to fraud or other problems - meanwhile in NY they did a mass mail in voting election, 25% of the ballots were throw out and they still don't know who won 6 weeks later. They are probably going to have to hold another election. Very similar story happened in New Jersey. It's happening right now, these horrible outcomes, and the left still claims there is no evidence of it, and they are pushing for mass mail in voting. They are acting dishonest and insane.

Trump floated the idea so that the left realizes that they need to behave and hold the election in a fair reasonable manner. If they think masks work, then wear them to the polls. Ask for an absentee ballot, that's always a good option.

Trump will not delay the election if they behave and hold a regular, at least fairly fair election. He just wanted to put all his options on the table so he has some leverage so hopefully they won't keep acting up.

No one can say for certain, but I would wager he did it first before the Biden/Dem/MSM/deep state camp suggested it as a way to prove Trump is as bad as they say or to outright take Trump out in a coup of sorts, so that they are now in a position where it would look extremely weak to also suggest/agree with something Trump already said.

They have to oppose him on just about everything he says, capitulation is not possible, doubling down is the new norm, so they would appear to be siding with him if they started saying postponing the election would be on the table. And they cannot afford to do that. He has to be Hitler, out of control, stupid, incompetent, insane, loony and agreeing with him at any point weakens their perceived moral high ground to msm viewers/normies that don't really know what's going on, they just know Trump is certain evil and this perspective has to continue to be maintained at all costs.

Basically he may have beat them to the punch so that they can no longer use election suspension as a viable strategy to defeat him or weaken him in some way. Yes, this is how things have been operating over the last 4 years and it is the world we now live in.

Trump didn't make anything up, he actually has the power to do it "thanks" to Directive 51. I don't think the deep state thought it could ever be used against them.

Hmmmmm....thank you for that information on New York. Even the liberal website Slate had to admit that was a disaster.

The liberal website Slate has called the mail in voting in New York a "disaster." Votes were thrown out because the ballots weren't signed (so much for "secret ballot") and they were also thrown out because they weren't postmarked. (The fault of the post office, not the voter.) Governor Cuomo also misled people when he said that you could just drop your ballot off on election day. Not true! You needed to make sure it got postmarked before the deadline! Voter suppression or just stupidity?
