Why did R's choose nasty unplesant McCain over less offensive Romney?

Not that either candidate would uphold the US Constitution but how could the American people, the ones in the Republican Party, choose someone like John McCain over Mitt Romney.

I have never seen any unflattering pictures of Mitt Romney. On the other hand something appears to be not exactly right with John McCain. Just about every picture of McCain is unflattering.

I don't know much about Mitt Romney. I have heard that he is a NeoCon.

If you have got two NeoCons, one who is an unoffensive person like Romney and the other is an apparently not so nice person like McCain, why not pick the less offensive Romney? Doesn't make any sense.

McCain is neoconservative. Romney is more conservative. Republicans are now dominated by neoconservatives.

Plus McCain has more of a chance at grabbing democrat and independent voters in the general election.. There are alot of democrats who still like McCain..


McCain would have a much better chance against Hillary than Romney would.

Because Romney is a complete fake.

Its like he read a book about how to be a (modern) Republican and just spouted off whatever he thought would get him elected. Add to that christian conservatives reluctance to vote for a mormon and his record in Mass, and whalla Romney is out.

The only thing that guy had was money and media attention. Who actually "liked" him, rather than picking him as the lesser of the evils?

Multiple reasons:

1. The Mormon thing.
2. Romney has run away from his record more than McCain, and it seems disingenuous.
3. Romney shot himself in the foot with all of his attack ads, especially in Iowa and New Hampshire.
4. Romney isn't exactly a nice guy.
5. The party hacks thought McCain was more electable.

Still, it needs to be said that in strong Republican States, McCain has done miserably. Generally, he's only winning Republicans in Democratic and split States that are used to picking people they think will win over some Democrats.

The Democrats want McCain as the nominee - he'll be the easiest target in Nov. Their next pick is Huckabee. Gee... how convenient - that's who the media has pushed to the top.

One thing I've been thinking lately is that McCain is really inline with the NWO camp on most issues. He's for open borders, "free trade" agreements, perpetual war, big government (his attacks on insignificant pork spending is just a cover). I think this had something to do with his win.

The other day I heard Pat Buchanan differentiating between the Republican Party and "the establishment." He went on to say that by choosing McCain, the party is giving in to "the establishment." I think I agree with his world view on this. The Republican Party isn't very powerful and it's philosophy has proven to be expendable. I am not a big conspiracy guy, but I do agree that there is an NWO-globalist-elitist/banker force more powerful than the political parties.

Side note: The media always use the flattering term "Maverick" to describe McCain, when sell-out or RINO would be much more accurate.

I posted an article about how the Romney campaign was derailed yesterday on this very forum. A tax activist from Newton MA compiled a 28 page document that was excellent 'opposition research'. Romney paid a lot for expensive campaign advisors that worked on very effective spin regarding his liberal executive experience in MA but this 28 page document countered every attempt by Romney and crew to try to paint himself as a conservative republican and ultimately stopped his campaign.

Also, don't forget the simple fact that McCain has much more name recognition than Paul, Huckabee, or even Romney.

Lot's of people vote just based on a name, and McCain was the best known Republican name running.

I have a couple of questions...1 is on McCain's record, the other on his health...

1 - Has anyone heard if McCain was ever checked for the various forms of PTSD after his ordeal?

2 - Does anyone know of the various Anti Vet bills that McCain has supported? What about his position on the recent bill that included language restricting guns to soldiers with PTSD?
