Why are YOU not calling Iowa?

Wait, so if someone is not calling, then they are not real supporters? Is that the point of this thread? You think that everyone has the time to work for the campaign? This kind of mentality is getting old...

If you are physically unable, then yes, it is understandable why you could not do this.

I think the OP's point, and my point on other threads, is that there are still a lot of people off doing their own thing, when the campaign has repeatedly requested the need for people to volunteer. Phone banking works and is by far the most productive thing one can do with their time for the campaign. It's a priority issue and a time management issue. You'll have people that spend hours working on a youtube video that will likely only get seen by other RP supporters rather than using that time to do something that has proven success in winning elections. The plea from many of us on here has been for people to examine their priorities, and use their time they have as wisely and productively as possible.

I'm an ancap and enjoy doing other things. I paid almost 200 dollars to send brochures out because it was quick. I like to see Ron Paul do well out of personal enjoyment but I know the ineffectiveness of political action. That's why I'm not calling.

Kinda don't get it. From what I saw he asked a couple questions and not once mentioned Ron Paul. Was their editing that didn't include this and what other questions are there?

This is a very effective strategy. For lots of reasons. For certain it is MUCH easier for volunteers to conduct a 1.5 minute poll than to try to convert people. For certain the majority of people in their respective states don't want "carpetbaggers" trying to tell them who they need to vote for. For certain this strategy is how we did an end run around the establishment/media and won the KY seat for Rand Paul AND this system is playing a large part in our rising numbers. There are lots of intricacies to this strategy and public forums are not the best place to explain things. If you are making calls you have phone numbers and other avenues available for getting questions answered, training. etc...

I'm hearing impaired. I'm useless on the phone. I do spend my free time talking to people online about Ron and have picked up a lot of supporters.

^^^ That is about the only valid reason for not making calls

I already told my personal reasons why in another thread here, so I wont repeat it. But if people keep posting this kind of shit then ill just stop browsing these forums. I want paul to win, but I can't work for his campaign, its hard enough to keep up with my personal life.

If you have already addressed this, perhaps it is best to just ignore the thread. In the time you took to write that you could have made a call

Because I can't figure out how to set up Google Voice with my non long-distance home phone or even online! if you can find some directions for me on how to do that I would be forever grateful

Google voice is hit and miss. Some people have been using it successfully but it is not supported at this time. We have some people on the Facebook group that have helped a few people set up G-Voice but it is more complicated than just signing up with a G-Voice number. From what I understand it takes a combo of G-Voice and G-Talk and calling from G-Mail Chat's "Call Phone" option.

Here is a better explanation to try

This may work for Google Voice:
  • You can use Google Voice in conjunction with Google Talk
  • INSTRUCTIONS & HELP FOR SETTING UP:
  • 1. Register and setup Google Voice (voice.google.com)
  • 2. Register and setup (or use current) Gmail account (gmail.google.com)
  • 3. Download and install Google Talk (talk.google.com)
  • 4. Launch and login to Google Talk (is an IM type program)
  • 5. Go to voice.google.com; set up "inbound" phone for incoming calls on google voice number to terminate to your GOOGLE TALK
  • 6. Lauch GMAIL in browser
  • 7. Look for MAKE CALL option/link...CLICK it
  • 8. You will be presented a call dialogue box. Use a headset and test making an outbound call.
  • 9. Use your Google Voice number when registering for Ron Paul Phone from Home.
Skype is MUCH more solid, but does have a minimal cost to set up and $3 a month for unlimited calling. Here is a tutorial

O
nward!

Studying for finals and writing papers in all of my free time :(.

Good luck on the exams. Hopefully, the campaign can count on your assistance once exams are over. You do know that you can call anytime between 10:30am and 11:55 pm EST - it might be a nice break in your day to set aside the books for 15 mins or so and make a few calls.

Because the system is currently down. I checked the facebook group, and people are having the same problem. Seems like phonebankers are growing in such numbers that the system can't keep up with the volume of calls:)

Just made another 30 calls just a few minutes ago. (wish I could do it for a full time job!!) Up to about 85 or so for the week. This is super easy and all the people I have spoke with seem very nice! I try to at least get a few calls in every day. It is so simple!

For me it was an issue of limited cell minutes and Google Voice not working. But now I'm calling after 9 PM ET (which is still okay for IA and NV) when I have free minutes, and looking into getting Skype for a modest fee.
My first experiences with PFH show that it *can* be easy to become downtrodden because it takes awhile to complete a survey, and some people are annoyed to receive survey calls. What I have to remind myself is: 1) Even if they're annoyed, they don't know me anyway, so it doesn't hurt me one bit!; and 2) If I happen to get connected to a Ron Paul supporter, they'll probably be *happy* to receive this call!
Now, back to the calls ...

There is a guy who has been helping people get google voice going. Is still "unsupported" but is working for a few. If you are on the Facebook group

https://www.facebook.com/groups/phonefromhome

look for Jack Zhang.

It seems human nature to remember the hangups and forget the "Wow, that was short! Thanks" calls

About 10% love getting called and 10% hate getting calls, the 80% in between is hit and miss. That is where "tone of voice" comes in.

The guy running the system has been doing these for decades. When he first started someone told him, "Just keep in mind they can't shoot you over the phone"

We have one guy who is approaching 10,000 calls. He has learned to even enjoy the hang-ups. He knows he is marching with an army towards victory, everyday.

Onward!

Why are there people on this forum that are not calling Iowa right NOW? Do you not want to win? Do you think other people are doing this job right now so you don't need to do it? I want to hear the excuses from people that call themselves Ron Paul "supporters". We have exactly 24 days and 12 hours until the Iowa Caucus! We need to WIN!

GO HERE NOW: http://phone.ronpaul2012.com/v/login.php?return_url=/v/index.php

Do it. Debate calling in great for the soul.
