Why a January 5th Charity Bomb?

The weekend of January 5-6th is crucial in that the Iowa primary will be over on the 3rd and that weekend is the weekend before the New Hampshire primary.

If we do VERY well in Iowa, 1st or 2nd, the media, other candidates, etc will attack Ron Paul as much as they can...or, as we've seen, when they can't find any flaws with Ron Paul they attack his supporters.

If he does better than expected, 3rd or 4th, he may be ignored by the media...

So we need something on that weekend that Monday morning the news outlets can say "Wow...look at Ron Paul! Amazing!"

What better way than a Charity bomb? A goal of 100,000 Ron Paul supporters donating $10-$25 to a single charity to really get the media's attention and head off any attempts at a smear campaign (at least for a few crucial days).

I don't think enough people are willing to get on board with this one, but with RP supporters you never know...

It's a really good idea though, in my opinion. If we can raise $200,000 in a few days for a blimp, then surely we can get at least half that for a charitable organization that everyone can agree upon.

For $100,000 we'd only need 4,000 pledges of $25.

That aside, is it even legal to raise money for a charity in the name of something else? As someone pointed out in the thread that started this, it does seem somewhat exploitative.

Regardless, it certainly needs to be a charity that directly helps the people in need. Sick people, homeless or poor people, children, etc. I also think it should be a fairly well-known one. The two suggested in the other thread, I'd never even heard of (That might just be me, though).

I like this idea... It shows our "love" in this revolution. With only 10,000 pledges at $25, should be easy!

Got my vote and my money, this is where my first donation of 2008 will go. Check out the page, they pulled off the Boston Tea Party and GAVE $2000.00 to the campaign with what was leftover. I can't think of any better way to support NH in the primaries than to contribute here.
