Who's more conservative: Paul or McCain?

To anyone that looks at their policies it is clearly Ron Paul. Unfortunately many people will listen to McCain say over and over that he is a conservative. They will believe him without ever looking at his record... it is sad.

We need a billboard in every city that says CHECK THEIR RECORD BEFORE YOU VOTE.

The term conservative no longer deals with monetary policy of the gov't. It describes a return to 40-50's style morals and ideology.

I have had numerous Republicans tell me that Paul is a liberal. I guess disagreeing with the gov't isn't "conservative"

McCain, because of his position on the war. Avg republican seems to link national security and staying in Iraq because Bush says so (must be loyal to the party leader!).

Does not matter the reason, if you are for withdrawal from Iraq they equate that to a liberal position and thus weak on national security. At least this is what I have found to be true.

To me, Conservative really doesn't apply to most Republicans anymore. You can't be conservative and ignore a multi-trillion dollar deficit, however a Republican just needs to carry out the party agenda.

You need to hand feed the info to people. A billboard won't help.

Just prove it to them, in simple and easy to remember bites of information about other potential canidates.

Won't help a damn thing, because the gov't will still be there to lie, lie, lie. There were riots at the beginning of the Great Depression, most of it politically motivated. People did know what was going on at the time, but they were quickly silenced. It will be no different in the oncoming depression. Start forming your bread line now.

I kind of agree.

I have seen many Republicans that are against the abolishment of the Dept. of Education or fear what eliminating the IRS will do. They are not small gov't people anymore is basically my point.

What's in a name?

If by conservative we mean the adherence to constitutional principles of limited government, fiscal responsibility, national sovereignty, and a foreign policy of avoiding foreign entanglements. Preserving the Constitution, the freedoms it guarantees. . . then John McCain is not a "conservative".

Conversely, if by conservative we mean the adherence to mean political rhetoric, Keynesian deficit spending, allegiance to sundry supranational agencies, and a foreign policy of complete interventionism. Undoing the Constitution, and the freedoms it guarantees. . . then Dr. Paul is not a "conservative".
