Who would you vote for between Rand Paul and Dennis Kucinich?

November 2016: Rand Paul (R) vs. Dennis Kucinich (D). You would vote for...

  • Rand Paul

    Votes: 112 94.9%
  • Dennis Kucinich

    Votes: 6 5.1%

  • Total voters
    118
  • Poll closed .
Ron Paul retired.

It was a sarcastic comment. I assumed the remainder of my post would have made that obvious, but apparently not. Retired or not plenty will still be writing in that name because they refuse to compromise even the slightest bit with another candidate, and you know it's true.

Proudly voted for Kucinich. :)

So which option would you say describes you better?

A. "I'm unprincipled, and will vote for a rabid anti-gun nut, Obamacare-sellout and socialist, because I believe him to be the lesser evil due to his foreign policy."

B. "I myself am an anti-gun socialist who loves him some Obamacare, desires to pay more in taxes and wants a bigger federal government."

Unlike you, I happen to realize the only way to get rid of Obamacare is replacing it with a single-payer system. (you know, what ACTUAL Socialists want, not the Heritage/Nixon proposal Obama-Pelosi have been pushing in recent years)

The question was: Rand Paul or Dennis Kucinich? not, Rand Paul or Stewart Alexander?

A principled Democrat or an unprincipled Republican? Tough choice! Ron Paul would vote for Kucinich!

Yeah, we already know you're a big government liberal.
Government would be infinitely smaller under Kucinich or Grayson, than it would under a regular Democrat or regular Republican. Rand would be an ineffective President, in comparison to Kucinich. In comparison to virtually any other R/D, Rand is great.

We must not become a Republican faction, or exclusively Republican faction. We need the Progressives, Greens, etc on our side, or we will never get a man in the White House.

Denny might be a nice guy ( I do not believe that) , I figure, even Satan has a better understanding of economics, I just have not understood why the Dems have not run him yet.....

Because interventionist foreign policy is a progressive doctrine formed by leftists and merely adopted by the modern political right, and the only reason the majority of democrats are against war, has nothing to do with philosophy or moral arguments and more to do with partisan memes and wars resulting in less total slop available for the social program trough?

"We've abandoned our parties
and met on Common Ground"

I think a well funded (you'd have grassroots throwing money from three corners; D, R, & L), common ground platform (plenty of overlap), Rand/Dennis OH/KY indy 2016 ticket would be a game changer in US politics. It would get democrats talking to republicans again. It would get a nation involved in the political discussion again on real issues: We'd see the Fed restructured or eliminated, bailouts ended, the drug war ended, TSA eliminated, extra judicial killings ended, and our troops back on our shores; not to mention the smack in the face to the establishment L/R divide status quo. Frankly, I think Rand and Dennis have more in common with each other than either of them have in common with their respective party's politics. Both are in the top tier of national politics and both are amongst the most well spoken representatives we have on "liberty" issues.

I like them both and have listened to both speak many times over. If presented with the situation in the OP I would take Rand over Dennis; that said I'd take Dennis over a lot of other politicians. I like Rands energy and tone; but given the opportunity I think they'd rile each other up.

A KY/OH Rand/Dennis ticket would win WV and many many other states almost by default. Let's do it.

Unprincipled Republican- I won't get raped by oppression

B. HOW? Both of them want more taxes, forcing states to follow federal marriage laws (in this case better for you! Since you support the definition of marriage, only because of tolerance and "love"), and more CCC style slavery? HOW CAN IT BE SMALLER!!!!!!!! What Pot are you smoking?

C. People who are very Anti-libertarian and want more government. I think we all know why real libertarians left CATO and LP after Rothbard was kicked out.

You will still get raped by oppression, the Congress would simply override Rand's vetoes.

Kucinich/Grayson/Takano are not for more taxes. Not sure where you're getting that from. Has Kucinich ever sponsored a tax increase? Not sure what you meant by the marriage remark, I strongly condemn marriages based on love, it should be more firmly rooted.

"real libertarians" left LP? Since when?

I'm quite fond of Ron Paul for making alliances on specific issues where the left agreed with him (Frank, Sanders, Kucinich, etc.), however--that is one of the least thought-out proposals I've heard in a long time. For one, Ron got burned most of the time. For another, Dems don't seem to back even their most beloved politicians with action/funding (Kucinich, Feingold, etc.)

So, the neocon-leaning types that Rand is winning over would jump ship, and the Dems who fervently hate Rand would tell Dennis to pound salt. Plus, Rand would never go for it, it'd be suicide.

That is an opinion and factually incorrect.

Unlike you, and many who post here, I believe that people who like the political left have a mental disorder. Anyone who thinks other people are entitled to someone's profits have something wired incorrectly. I don't care if an elected official and/or political candidate is correct on some issues if that person wants something from me to redistribute to others. It's a virus that has permeated much of American life, and we'd all be much better off if that virus and all of its hosts were eradicated.

I am not talking about taxes for roads, police (that operate as true peace officers), schools (with no social experimentation), National Defense, and other Constitutional provisions, as well as State authorized expenditures. (If we truly lived in a Constitutional Republic - State taxes would be much higher than Federal taxes.)
