Who will be going to the State Convention in Greensboro, NC June 1-3?

Shouldn't we get there by Friday itself anyway, to be credentialed and seated as a delegate? We can't wait till Saturday afternoon to barge in, vote for the at-large RNC delegates and go home, right?

It's a good idea to be there Friday if you can. Make sure your credentials are in order. There will be some early discussions among the cognoscenti.

I'm just saying for anyone that finds both days to be a hardship, and you can only go to one - make sure it is Saturday.

Yes the rules are voted on Friday. They basically use the same rules every year, and they're printed and included in your convention packet. There will be time to read them. I could quibble on some things but I've not yet seen anything in the rules that I consider dirty tactics.

What should we carry? Is a driving license enough to prove my identity? Otherwise, how do I make sure that my credentials are "in order"? Anything I should do ahead of time?

If anyone is looking for rooms, this is from a Paul guy from our FB group:

Update on Hotel: I have 14 double occupancy rooms reserved at XXXXX in Greensboro for State Convention. 7 rooms are smoking, 7 are non-smoking. We can have up to 4 people per room. I've got room for 3 in my smoking room. We can split the cost which would come to $22.50 for both nights. The reservation is under XXXX. To reserve: get with people who will room with you and call XXX-XXX-XXXX mention you are booking under XXX, and give credit card number to hold reservation, you will not be charged until you arrive. Reservation is only good until May 15th. Any rooms not booked by then will be released to relieve me of the financial obligation of all the rooms. Post here once you have booked, and also list who is staying in the room with you. Like I said I still have room for 3 in my room if anyone wants to split the cost with me. The convention center is a 5 minute walk from the hotel.

I have X'ed out some info to protect our privacy. If you need the info, PM me.

Me and 2 other guys were planning to carpool and drive down daily on Friday and Saturday, but seeing as how the rooms are cheap, I might stay there overnight. If anyone wants to carpool from the Raleigh area, let me know. We have room for 1 more in our car.

I have one other question. I bought the "conventional sessions" only package for $35, but I am yet to get any receipts for it in my email, although my CC has been charged. For the precinct meeting and the CD conventions, I had received e-receipts and entry tickets in the email immediately. Was it the same for everyone else too?

I just heard that the rules for the convention will be voted on Friday instead of Saturday - so it's critical that Paul supporters get there for the votes on Friday.

Can anyone confirm this?

Maybe slackers can go on Friday but the rest of us have to work.

I plan to attend the state event. I missed my district convention. I was one of the people caught in the re-districting and I was already ready to go to the 5th district, and come to find out I was moved the the 2nd district and it already happened.

I live in near the Cary Amtrak station and I was looking at train schedule. You can get to Greensboro for about $10 on the Amtrak ($10 per ride, 20 round trip). Then take bus #2 to the convention center for $1.50. The main problem with this is that the last train going back to the Cary leaves at 6:50. I like the train option, but it you would have to leave at 6pm to catch the train out. And 6pm on both Friday and Saturday are very important.

- Greensboro Bus #2 Map: greensboro-nc.gov/modules/showdocument.aspx?documentid=5552

I might take the train down, stay at a hotel and take it back on Sunday. But I wanted to share this info with everyone looking for alternative travel options.

sorry to bother you all.....
I'm on Daily Paul and have a NC supporter who wants to be a delegate. WIthout reading through this entire post and site, have you chosen delegates yet?
Its for Harnett County, District 14

Can anyone please fill me in - - Thank you

HI Mike

So you missed your convention, can you still be selected as a delegate? or can you be an alternate ?

I have no idea. I will come to support our cause and if I can be added, that would be outstanding. I know we have one alternate selected from the 2nd District. But beyond that, I am unsure of the entire process.

I hope you had attended your precinct meeting and had mentioned that you are going all the way to the state convention back then. Then you can come to the state even though you missed the CD. I don't think attending the CD is a requisite for attending the state, but attending the precinct certainly is. Are you in touch with other Paul supporters in your CD? If not, and you need me to hook you up with others, PM me.

Did the person attend the precinct meeting and RSVP'd to go to the state? If not, he can't be a delegate now.

There will be a Ron Paul Delegates BBQ in Charlotte at the home of Pat Armstrong on May 19th. Our strategy will depend on the outcome of the primary on Tuesday. Please come to Charlotte on the 19th if you can. Details are at https://www.facebook.com/events/396669590367073/

Frankly, if you already paid and they took your money without comment, you're probably fine, LOL. Just check in at the registration desk, show a picture ID if they ask (the ladies are often too busy handling the line to do this) and get your stuff.

With 1000+ people there usually are a few screwups in the paperwork and some people do not get credentialed right away. Don't sweat it, I have never seen a vote of the convention fail to seat someone that has a "reasonable" explanation for missing county convention. I have heard stories of people using a credit card statement as proof they paid the county convention though, when the state lost the paperwork.

I know it's easy to get paranoid on a Paulite forum... But I do not think the NCGOP matches the credentials list with Paul donors in any nefarious way, to bump people off.

They usually mail a confirmation. Chill. The convention is a month away.

I've also received solicitations to attend the convention after I already paid. Remember, the NCGOP is a volunteer organization so they have some left-hand/right-hand issues, when pulling the convention together.

The planners also tend to send e-mails leading up to the convention such as "There are still dinner tickets available!" ETC So that's a good sign you are on the attendance lists, as they troll for more money.

Heh. I'm taking off work... :)

I'm going to put out 150 signs in my county this evening. I'm really a slacker so I'm sure you put out a lot more signs weeks ago. ;)

For those of you who missed your county and district conventions: You're too late to go to the state convention and be a state delegate. At this point the best thing you can do is try to get as many votes for Paul as you can. It's not enough for you to go vote - you have to get 10+ people to go vote with you. Ask friends and family to vote for Paul as a favor to you. Start going to your county Republican party meetings NOW so that you're involved. Don't preach Paul to the people there, just go and get involved. Once you've done that you'll hear about all of the upcoming conventions and you can begin to make a difference in how your district and county Republican party runs.

Thanks, but any chance you can get the actual FB event link too, so that I can invite the Paul supporters here I know?

Do we really want to wait till the last minute to meet? We have the whole of May..why can't we organize a get-together?

I didn't say a planning meeting; rather, I meant a "recap" meeting for people who couldn't make it to any earlier planning meetings. Just a short get together to disseminate information about the potential RP delegates or any resolutions that we are supposed to vote for/against on the floor. I say this because many people, myself included, will only be going on Saturday.
