Who is Tim Tebow?

dude is obnoxious.

I watched a mic'd up segment on sportscenter and he was singing religious hyms on the sideline.... in a real in your face kinda way. One of his teammates was like(in a polite way) let's focus on football, Tim. Got nothin' against religion but there were several instances were it was like he was just trying to be right in your face with it.

It is kind of funny that people don't have this kind of reaction, though, when they mic up people who're rapping or singing snatches of country songs or bits of pop music.

Maybe it has something to do with the dishonesty of the singing. It's just like with politicians, they play off of the religious individuals (i.e. Rick Perry's "Prayer Breakfast"), it's popular at the moment and gains attention and support from a particular group of people, so they just dive right into that.
At least with people rapping or singing country songs they're honest, they're showing off talents, not trying to prove how Christian or country or Rappery they are.
Like I said earlier, the whole praying when you make a touchdown is a false controversy created by the media, if the media didn't focus on it or make a big deal about it, nobody would care.

It stands with the help of crutches.
Everyone is equal under the law, special laws for individuals marginalized down into groups based on similarities, actually inhibit the individual to grow and/or prosper.
To say that one group of people need special laws to make them equal is to say that, that group is inferior to another group. special laws = racism.
Your statement stands based on racist government indoctrination.

I'm not in disagreement with you at all, just so you know. Just stating the things as they are, not as they should be.

I like Tebow. He's obviously principled - what's wrong with that? He has a strong faith, and that's a bad thing?

Not everyone has to believe in God. God gives his followers a choice. If you dont believe, ok, that's your choice to make.

I do find it amazing that people know more statistics and trivia about football and American idol, than they do about their own local politicians. Its troubling, but I must also disclose that I'm a diehard Packer fan. Still, I'm a political activist too..

Still dont understand why there's all this hate on Tebow. I would think RP Supporters, of all people, would appreciate a principled man like Tebow. There are a lot of similarities with that guy and Ron Paul.

Well for me mostly, it's hating the game, not the player. Football is a major distraction, I don't fin Tim Tebow to be genuine either, he gives off the same vibe a lot of slithering politicians give me.

 It's been a meme on these forums whereby people can feel superior, because they don't engage in that sort of behavior. Any time a thread comes up with a pop culture subject, you do realize people zoom in to say "OMG it is a distraction! Opiate of the masses! Bread and circuses!" while the poster is online and almost certainly engaging in more than just Ron Paul -related behavior.

everything must be taken very, very seriously

Reality returns to the Denver Broncos. They are still a mediocre team who barely won a bad division (and didn't actually win that either- they got the title based on tie breakers) and will have to undergo some major changes in the off season (and yes, I am a Broncos fan) if they want to improve. Luck can take you only so far.

If people put as much attention onto politics as they did with trivial nonsense like sports, then this government would be much more controlled. Not saying sports is bad but it's way out of proportion in terms of amount of attention that it receives from our population.

Bread and circuses....

I don't know man. All that concentrated stupidity in one area...we might have already collapsed by now!
