Fred Thompson or Ron Paul? Please cite examples from both candidates.
Fred Thompson or Ron Paul? Please cite examples from both candidates.
Fiscally, Ron is the most conservative. He's never voted to raise taxes, never voted for an unbalanced budget, and even returns part of his Congressional office budget to the treasury yearly.
Ron has no truck with lobbyists, while Fred has been one -- lobbying for abortion groups and Jean Bertrand Aristide, the communist dictator of Haiti, who paid Fred to lobby Clinton to send troops to restore his rule after he was ousted by his own people for keeping them in line by burning them to death with gasoline-soaked tires.
Socially, Ron is the most conservative. He's been steadfast in his pro-life views, while Fred has, as was mentioned, lobbied for abortion groups. Ron's got an A+ from the Gun Owners of America, while Fred voted for the Lautenberg Amendment and for a measure that would put parents in jail for allowing their children to touch an "assault weapon".
It's clear who is the most conservative. Fred talks a good game, but he doesn't stand by his stated principles. On the other hand, when the Club for Growth analyzed the conservatism of the candidates, their criticism of Ron was that his conservatism was too pure and he was too unwilling to compromise his principles to play the Washington game.
Thank you for your response. No i'm not a troll, but my dad told me Fred Thompson was the most conservative, I've always viewed Paul as extremely conservative, but my dad knows a lot about politics; just wanted to get other opinions
