And why are these considered qualifications for candidacy?

What Qualifies Me to Run
I was...

...a single parent for 10 years

...was widowed
...remarried to a disabled Viet Nam vet

Jaynee has been involved in politics in her community for a while. Last year, she decided to step it up and actually run for office. She was strongly motivated by Ron Paul's run for President (in fact she was endorsed by Ron Paul) and she did a pretty good job as a 3rd party candidate with a tiny budget. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oregon%27s_4th_congressional_district#2008 If you look on down the chart, the Republican vote has slowly been increasing over the last several elections. I think with the direction of the country and people's discontent with the current group, I think any incumbent is at a disadvantage.

She is running again and I believe has a real shot at winning the primary. I think the local GOP thinks so also, because they are already trying to keep her out of GOP functions. They have tried twice, succeeded once.

Disorderly, to answer your question, I believe the challenges she has faced and overcame in her life will give her the ability to handle the strains of office. The fact that she will be guided by the constitution gives me confidence in her voting. Right now we need as many liberty minded Congressmen as we can get. She doesn't have an political ambitions, she's just a concerned citizen and personally, I think we need more people in office that fit that description. Jaynee will do a great job.

Thanks for the reply. For the record I wasn't trying to be disparaging. I never heard of her. I saw that Kokesh endorsed her. I still don't know why she would put "remarried to a disabled viet nam vet" as a "qualification" But I support any liberty minded candidate who is running for office and wish her the best of luck.

OK...here I am. Those "qualifications" are simply to show that I am a true "representative" not a politician. Like you, I am a parent, grandparent and have worked real jobs. I know the struggles that our vets have doing the paperwork and appealing for veterans' benefits because I have been there!

I believe that the job title "Representative" is more than a title; it is a description. I believe that I fit the description, therefore the title fits me!

You was was widowed?

I'm just your friendly neighborhood Grammar Nazi wanting to keep your website on the up and up.

If Mrs. Germond is a true apostle of liberty and not just another GOP statist who is just trying to jump on the freedom bandwagon then she will have our support (and money).

Your friendly neighborhood grammar nazi is back...

Are you still married to the Vietnam vet? You imply it is past tense.

I realized that saying "I was widowed" implies your deceased husband came back to life.

"I was owned my own business" is also poor grammar.

Personally, I think she should overhall that whole section. That was part of the reason I started this thead. I don't think "marrying somone" qualifies you for anything. the stuff she listed (other than running her own business, and maybe homescooling) are not "qualifications" they are personal tidbits. they should go in an "about me" section. her qualification section should include...qualifications. Perhaps some leadership or activist experience. Saying, "I managed my own business for the past 10 years, and I am a county coordinator for C4L" would be better qualifications than saying, "I married someone who used to be in the military after I was widowed and a single parent for ten years."

being married to vet, widowed, and single parent, have absolutely nothing to do with promoting freedom and liberty, they have nothing to do with policy, or her views... she should use the main page to hit the high points of her political philosophy. She should add an "about me section" to talk about her personal life.

Not trying to be nasty, just trying to offer some constructive criticism. I am sure I am not the only one who has looked at her site and thought the same thing.

While I agree with you, please keep in mind most voters are not as savvy as us. Remember that 'hockey mom' is a qualification to many of the electorate.

Ok constructive criticism is a good thing. Now how about doing something constructive and offering to help her smooth it out?

Not trying to be nasty but obviously you have a talent and passion for this sort of thing and I'm sure the help would be appreciated.;)

What do you mean by "help her smooth it out"?

I offered a suggestion on what I thought she should do: Create an "about me" section to put the type of things she has under her "qualifications" section, and then spruce up her "qualifications" section with relevant business, political, activism talking points. I think that would help her site and make it sound more official/professional.

I wouldn't mind helping at all. As I said I support any liberty candidate. We need all we can get. But I don't know much about her or her relevant experience, so it would be hard to offer specific suggestions.

If you a suggestion for me I am open to hearing it.

Something the group might like, she got 13% of the vote in last election as the Constitution party candidate!

Come on Chuck Baldwin fans, you got to love that.

Oh and my the way I see a fundraiser on Sept 17th!

Come on where are the faithful who give our candidates a nice $20k startup fund.
I come to think about a couple hundred of us who are regulars, can't resist a genuine effort to raise money and give under $50 for all the bombs, bringing in around $20k.

Bump bump bump!! :)

BUMP!!
Okay, for what it's worth, I'm giving this a BUMP and a $45 donation.

I'm not seeing much action on this at the moment, so with any luck maybe we can get the ball rolling for this candidate.

From what I can gather, she has the endorsements of Adam Kokesh and RJ Harris, has signed the RetakeCongress.com pledge, and has previously run as a Constitution Party candidate.

Anyone else?? If we're going to make any progress at all in 2010, NOW is the time to start getting behind our candidates!
