Whites now a minority in London

No one said anything about punishing you. All signs and information would be in English only. If you want to be a part of this country, you'd have to learn English.

What does "part of this country" mean?

And how would we get punished if we did put up signs that weren't in English? And who would have the authority to punish us for doing that?

Paleo's think the power of state can be bent to their will without consequence. :)

Put up signs all you like. The government wouldn't be paying for them.

Let's say my wife and I decide to raise our kids speaking a language other than English. How should we be punished for that? And who has the authority to punish us?

Do what you want. There would be no penalties. The fact of the matter is that the resources of the system wouldn't be utilized for such. I like the world au natural. No artificial reality created by the government which eases the growth of tyranny.

One corollary to these statements would be that the government doesn't involve itself in making sure anybody anywhere is assimilated to anything.

but it does go out of it's way to make certain that the opposite does occur, since it's beneficial to do so. If we didn't have such an active government in the promotion of multi-cultural balkanization, we could theoretically have open borders with very little of the current problems.

What does "make certain that the opposite does occur" mean?

And how would that not involve them telling me what language to teach my kids and to use on signs I put up?

Some people pretend no government money is spent on multi-lingual signs or interpreters.

There is an idea that there are oodles of insular communities who will never teach their upcoming generations English, because the Government provides them with bilingual (or tri- or quad-) services. Frankly, the worst English I see and hear involves "native" speakers.

I'd rather there just not be so many Government publications. If there is to be any Government, there will be a need to publish things like legislation, ballots, and any number of things... but they really should be published in English. This isn't because I share AuH20's assertion that folks should learn the language or else. It's more because publishing in one language makes financial sense. Organizations can easily attempt to become official translators, and offer translations of the ballot, sign, program, or whatever else, funded privately, maybe even with their logo on there. Spanish-language television stations already offer some of those services. There are localized communities where assistance is offered by churches, or advocacy groups.
