It is plain arrogance (we are better and our country is better than other countries. It is a lie. Everyone knows that Croatia is best country in the world.) In many ways many other countries are a lot freeer (or however it is spelled) and freedom and liberty will not die if U.S.A. "dies". I'm simply stating why some people think in that manner, not making an argument. The U.S. attempting to force "democracy" and invading other countries today/setting up shop with bases and trying to establish favorable dictatorships there are seen as an extension of that history, and as a primarily "white" idea. It wasn't very long ago that blacks were categorized as property and sub-human, so that's still relatively fresh as far as history goes.

Whether you agree with that or not, it's an issue you'll have to take up with those people if it really bothers you that much, because I personally don't give a flying fuck about color.

I am not preaching American Exceptionalism, which is largely a myth these days. I am simply stating that other cultures do not have the ideological bedrock nor the timely serendipity that the U.S. was founded upon. Alex de Tocqueville wrote an entire book about this rare phenomenon as well as predicting our eventual demise.
