Which one issue matters most to you when judging someone to be a Liberty candidate?

Toss up between liberty and FP. Though I think losing basic liberties is what woke me up and often I have a stronger reaction to.

On this web page is a series of (very long and intricate) pdf's. These are some of the things that I view as important. Things that I've yet to hear any politician or tv/radio stooge out there in la la land even attempt to approach in a manner that get's it right.

Now these pdf's are over a hundred pages a pop so if we are one of those lazy "oh, well, I'll just let the tv/radio guy do my thinking and asking for me" kind of folks (like the we ask, you decide model?) then I wouldn't bother with them. We're probably too far gone if we are trustees in that model.

In fact, much of what is contained in them (depending upon which ones anyone chooses to read (if any) supports why I agree with Beck when he says that it's time to Forget the United States as we knew it. The "issues" are soooo much more complex than the vague terms of controversy/context that we are programmed to align them with in the mainstream.

No offense, cc, but the poll is indicative of the phenomenon. Of course, I understand why it is this way so it is what it is, I suppose.

Other than Foreign Policy/War mongering Q, all other questions are really redundant in current context.

With morally/economically deblitating global wars policy bringing blowbacks/militarized police state and gropings at home, 42% higher divorces/foreclosures rates among military families... placing any other issue at higher value than foreign policy is really not aware of the biggest causes of ongoing decline of domestic liberties.

Economic freedom & the defense of private property are the two critical items the citizens must wrangle away. Economics is the lifeblood of all foreign intervention. Without it, all this grinds to a halt. No imperial transgressions are possible. Like Judge Nap has said, if you take away the power of the purse, they are powerless. Why do you think the impostor-in-chief is always crowing about maintaining 'the full faith and credit of the U.S' at any cost?

So that boils down to civil liberties.

Freedom is the only issue that matters. All others turn upon the question of freedom.

All of these are of equal importance - and I would argue, cannot be separated from eachother in any meaningful sense - but I have to choose foreign policy, because it's only through the fog and panic of war that you can even begin to convince people to give up their civil, personal, and economic liberties. In times of peace, people think as individuals and pursue their individual interests (as they should), but in times of war, the basest instincts of collectivism and mobocracy take over. Foreign interventionism is the fount that waters and gives root to every other manifestation of Statism, from conscription and "temporary" tax hikes to the widespread public shunning or even imprisoning of people with different ideas.

The late Randolph Bourne said it best...war is the health of the State. And as most of us know by now, the health of the State is usually to the ill of the people.

I don't like the options. Not all Liberty Candidates are running in Federal races. So how can I select Foreign Policy for example, when it does not apply to 90% of the people on my ballot? Restoring The Constitution is the main thing, that is the way to protect freedom in our system of government. I really do hate terms like 'Civil Liberties' they sound so wimpy. Don't Tread On Me! is what a real man would say, simple, strong and to the point. Not 'go away, leave my civil liberties alone'

While I do agree and like your point, the same can be said still on local races. You just get the opportunity to be face to face as you ask the question and this also allows for better discernment on their response.

While they may not have any control whatsoever in what happens with our foreign policy, how they discuss the issue still tells you much.

I would never go door to door for a candidate that cannot understand that standing armies is where our problem stands.

Economic issues.

There are plenty of Progressive Caucus Democrats that are good on civil liberties, but there's no way I'd vote for any of them.

They are somewhat tied together, considering that many in our government believe it's their responsibility to use our treasure to fight Israel's wars for them.
