Which one issue matters most to you when judging someone to be a Liberty candidate?

I voted "civil liberties" but to be honest economic and foreign policy are just as important. But I couldn't even begin to consider supporting a candidate who wasn't big on the bill of rights. I wouldn't support any candidate that wasn't at least good in all three of those categories. Social issues are more state level in my mind and thus less important.

Agreed!

Looking at that poll only solidifies my desires to have no leader.

I want to be left alone, give me the "liberty candidate" that just wants to leave me alone and Ill vote for him.

No "issue" as somebody running for office can say whatever they want. aka: lie.

I prefer to base it on their past history and examples of them participating in liberty related activities and public support for other proven liberty candidates.

I voted foreign policy. No more war means we likely have obtained energy independence, an end to the petrodollar, and fewer tax dollars on the military.

Yes.

The issue is LIBERTY, not whether this person or that is promoting financial or civil liberties; or against foreign or domestic aggression.

The issue is: LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL.
(Which is why I became interested in Ron Paul in the first place.)

That means no:

FOREIGN WARS
DOMESTIC GOVERNMENT VIOLENCE
USURPING STATES RIGHTS
MERCANTILISM
CRONY CAPITALISM
VICTIMLESS CRIMES
FEDERAL ENTITLEMENTS

And, on and on and on............... ad nauseum.

Civil liberties (e.g. freedom of speech, assembly, privacy, legalization of drugs, bill of rights).

Focusing on this is important. Everything will follow.

Exactly. It all goes back to following the Constitution. If that is done, then all other categories fall into line from there.

I voted civil liberties, considering the police state in particular. Anyone who's willing to fight the police state and has the record to back it up will have my vote. Of all the issues, it's the most frightening to me. People don't see the impact of the wars and the banking system directly, so it's somewhat understandable why they aren't all outraged. But the police state is happening right in front of our eyes, literally in our own neighborhoods, and no one seems to care. Stopping it at the political level seems to be one of the few peaceful options.

So true. Looking at the poll, I felt there was no single option that takes absolute priority as the principle of non-aggression must be there and then there should be no conflict with regards to any of issues. Guess that is why my choice of candidate is so rare.

The most important issue for me would be getting rid of fiat currencies and central banks, first and foremost. Without that first step, it matters not how many gains in other areas you make, the masters will still be masters.

On another note, I was going to make this a thread but this one will do just fine for my purposes. I really wish this site could get back to focusing on the fundamentals that brought it all together, foreign policy/civil liberties/ending the federal reserve. For the most part, these are the 3 major issues that every American SHOULD be worried about. Not all the other nonsense that gets bickered about on these boards everyday.

social issues (e.g., abortion, health care, morality, family values, immigration)

The economic impact of healthcare and immigration can make those economic issues. Other than that, IMHO, "social issues" are a low priority compared to the others.

Everything can be boiled down to economics, 9/10 times if you look at something from a purely economical standpoint, you'll come to the correct decision. Yes I realize there are some exceptions to the rule, but less than you'd think.
