Ron Paul's plan would eliminate 5 departments in the first year. Which ones would you eliminate year one?

Agriculture
Commerce
Defense
Education
Energy
Health and Human Services
Homeland Security
Housing and Urban Development
Interior
Justice
Labor
State
Transportation
Treasury
Veterans Affairs

I vote all of them :)

I would go last in, first out skipping Veterans Affairs which would be a priority to make functional.

This makes the first year five a great list.

1) Homeland Security
2) Education
3) Energy
4 Transportation
5) Housing and Urban Development

I'd leave state with a budget of $50 million, and defense with a budget of $100 million.
I'd keep a system of ambassadors, but only as many as $50M would get, and they would live only as luxuriously as that would get them. That still works out to a budget of $300k or so per ambassador, doesn't it? Seems plenty to me.
I'd dissolve the national guard system and push states into developing militia, with federal guidance only in how they are armed (not even how they're trained).
I think $100 million is plenty budget for coming up with standards for armament.
I assume transportation is in the poll twice because one is meant to be Treasury - I would keep treasury but again with a fraction of the budget.
I'd direct them to go back to the original method of taxation.

I wouldn't even care to consider which one is first. For me it would be like running around with a morningstar swinging around my head, smacking anything I see. Which ever ones get crushed first, get crushed first.

I would only keep Defense, Justice, VA, and State. I would reduce the Defense budget (no more empire to maintain) and give a temporary increase to VA to deal with all the returning soldiers and to honor the commitments we made for sending off our young people for pointless wars.

ELIMINATE
Agriculture
Commerce
Education
Energy
Health and Human Services
Housing and Urban Development
Interior
Justice
Labor
Transportation

Then I would combine Defense, Homeland Security, State, and Veteran Affairs into one department (probably just call it Defense).

DEPARTMENTS NEEDED
Defense
Treasury

Right now , in the poll , the four that have the most votes , would be the same four I thought would have the most votes , for good reason...

I haven't decided what to leave the Federal Gov't with. Its an internal battle between my anarchist side, and some skewed idea that maybe just maybe government can work and do some good. Just haven't figured out what.

Go with your anarchist side :)

I think the real question is, why does Transportion have more votes the first time it is listed than the second time?
