I bought an Armalite Ar10 about a month ago. I put some rounds through it and feel foolish, for the .308 caliber is way too big for what i need. How does one go about selling such a thing?

Depends on your state. I don't want to condone breaking the law.

cough cough

I recommend you sell it at a gun show. But otherwise most online gun forums have a "for sale" section where you might post. Pick the right forum for your needs - don't go to some pistol forum to sell a rifle.

In your case, you might try ar15.com, or similar boards.

I am opening an orphanage for all unwanted or mistreated firearms :)!

You can put guns in the newspaper in VA... probably depends on state laws, and if there is registration.

Wish I could afford this. I'd love an AR-10. I have a Colt Sporter Match grade HBAR AR-15 (pre-ban) from about 1990, 1991 that is today worth at least that much, might be open to a trade, but 1) I like the Colt's reliability, and 2) I like being able to shoot 5.56 NATO which will always be plentiful.

2 words: black market

There is no black market if he owns the rifle legally. He can sell it to whoever he wants. Only thing is if he sells it out of state he has to ship it to a dealer in that state who will formally transfer it to whoever bought it.

I want to buy a 5.56 rifle some time myself. I wouldn't be comfortable in a different caliber, since I've spent plenty of time with 5.56. I have mags, but no rifle anymore. I'd only buy one if it wasn't registered previously, though. Hell no to registry for me.
