Uh...

By all accounts the county we would do best in, Spokane County, one of the largest in the state, has not reported yet.

As of right now it appears we are in a virtual tie with Santorum for second, when in all likelihood we will eclipse him once Spokane reports.

What the heck? Any results from any other sources?

According to the twitter report we lost it to santorum by more than 150 votes, check your other thread about Santorums campaign supposedly shitting in its pants....

If we have a couple hundred votes difference in King we might still get second, but this is uneasily close. And I can't believe my eyes that my state would support Santorum as they did. And more importantly, it wasn't really the votes of other candidates that dissappoints me. Its our own vote. 5000? Our people may like the message but they sure as hell don't care about it.

So here's my theory:
Stage 1: People are seriously brainwashed about the reality and their freedoms
Stage 2: People become aware about the problems but still stuck to the back controllers (establishment)
Stage 3: People become aware and break away from the past controllers (establishment)
Stage 4: People are aware and want to change their destinies
Stage 5: People change their destinies

Majority of our supporters are at stage 3. They know the truth and don't support the establishment, but they are not yet 'aware enough' to want to do something about it.

This, and it's a daunting task to get them actually involved. There's a lot of; 'next election' 'next year' 'slow stead change so when the 20s are 60s we win' talk and a whole ton of speculation and armchair quarterbacking but the follow through is abysmal among far more than I would have guessed. I can understand having trouble getting revved up to make calls (if your shy) or to become a delegate (if you don't know the politics/process) but donations and turning up to vote I thought were gimmies. Who can't wait to see the new movie until it comes out on DVD and give the difference to the Campaign? Who can't spare a couple hours (or in some cases minutes) twice every four years to vote?
I have been surprised and dismayed to discover how many people, even among Paul supporters, don't seem to acknowledge on a visceral or immediate level how this is real not just some game or popularity contest. I think that's why the troops support the way they do (with donations and even pushing the edge of breaking regs to support him) because they know what it's like when things get 'all too real' live with that and you don't take something like this with such detached casualness anymore.

King County was NEVER 'Paul Territory' that is the most liberal, corrupt, and establishmentarian county in the who State. I think people, including myself, had our hopes pinned on Spokane but because of last elections caucus.. In fact if we had a primary and a caucus this year like last time we probably would have won the caucus.. The turn out seriously is surprising, and the failure of our people to show is a staggering truth to all here and the continued media bullshit 'those Ron Paul people will show up'..Perhaps we fell for the media trick and believed the nonsense that is 'they'll show up'.

Honestly I thought we could have won. We didn't, not because we don't have supporters but because they just don't understand the urgency of the message to care to show up and vote. But still we did much better than the 'general population' support of Paul, which is probably correctly judged by the PPP poll. So can't be too upset I guess.
