When is the Secret Service going to start protecting Ron Paul due to crowd size??

If he is getting paid only $40k, how is he going to pay for it? From his savings? Paying for security would eat up his savings VERY quickly.

I'll be happy to kick in a few oz. of silver to the security team.

The guidelines stipulate that, in order to receive protection, a candidate must enjoy "national prominence," receive 10 percent or more of the vote in two consecutive primaries or caucuses, and qualify for federal matching funds in excess of $100,000.
you can also just raise 2 mill the article goes on to say
http://www.slate.com/articles/news_...2/how_secret_service_agents_are_allotted.html

so rons been eligible since New Hampshire ... same with Romney......... Newt after Florida..... Santorum after Colorado (I think..... he didnt hit the threshold in NH so he had to rack up two more... he might have in SC and Florida... but I cant remember)

Campaign donations can't go toward campaign security?

I bet there are many qualified people on this forum that would do it for meals paid anyway, or just for a ride.

not if Ron keeps up buying of the dollar menu at the golden arches.... pretty sure Id pay for my own meals

It wasn't glitter bombing. You remember those nice, enthusiastic, crowded events Ron had in Washington? Well Rick inspires Washintonians differently, apparently and there were protests to the point where one person was tased.
Tazed? Wow.

Secret Service "protection" is exactly what we don't want.

Remember how they "protected" JFK?

Ron's got a close-knit private security detail who he can trust. I think that's the right way to go.

I'm sure members of the campaign would protect him and put Ron's life first and foremost should the need arise. <sarcasm font off>

I get the sneaky suspicion that secret service might be worse than no security at all for Ron Paul. Assuming they're controlled by entities like the Federal Reserve and the rest of the establishment, I'd be concerned that they would lull Ron Paul and the campaign into thinking they have security only to let *something* happen. Private security composed of Ron Paul fans is the best way to go.

yep

What if there was a God and the ability to use emissaries as messengers between us.

Did you see them being waived off the JFK motorcade?
?

No. I had never seen or heard of that video. It was duly noted and I'll keep in mind.

Still the thing that seems to me and one of the things that has stood out and made America great for me is the way we can come out and come together when the chips are down or the time is ripe.

The media now has us all believing that we are all believing what they want us to think we are all believing. ( Sorry I know I shouldn't do that but some times I can't help myself.)

Anyway I saw the same thing in the sixties. They had us all herded up and on their merry path. Along came something as ordinary as a music group. Turns out they weren't just any music group. For some odd reason they divided us. The big question was, "Do you like the Beatles or not." America split. More questions came up. We all started talking, growing hair, and doing all sorts of things contrary to what the news allowed for us.

That was about the time the secret came out.

All that time we thought we were alone in what we felt, millions of others felt just like we did. It was a happening. We had a whole new future to march into together.

I think the same thing is poised to happen again.

The news has us all believing that we are all believing what they want us to think we are all believing.

When things get darkest watch.

Listen.

Feel.

Out of the darkness a light may appear. Something may happen. It may divide us at first. It may get us talking. It may happen that once again we find we are not all alone in what we feel. It may be that once again we come together for each other.

It could be we are poised for a another global happening.

People came together from everywhere and every position in life.

Ron Paul will be the first President to not have Secret Service. This question was posed in an email maybe in 08 that was replied to by Carol Paul. They have a private security company in mind that they feel is better service for better price. They don't want taxpayer funded protection. She also wrote that Rand had suggested they take the secret service money and then use it to buy gold, then sell the gold and return the money to the treasury having made a profit.

Unfortunately, they are not allowed to refuse Secret Service protection: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Secret_Service#Roles
