I wouldnt sell any gold, but I would trade some of it into silver right now if I had some. Its damn near 80:1 right now. Then when silver gets back to 45:1 levels i would trade the silver back in for gold. Then again I am totally asuming that the ratios are going to get back into the 40's.

I hold some gold now and intend to buy some more since I believe the Fed's actions will be highly inflationary (even if it takes years to culminate).

That being said, I am a re-balancer. I sell equities and buy fixed income when stocks go too high and vice versa. However, with gold, since it's primarily a store of value, when should I sell? Seems like there is a lot of arbitrage to be made with gold due to its volatility.

if gold becomes money again... maybe you never sell it.

but i plan on selling my gold when there is a gold mania. If there is gold bubble that forms... that's when you want to sell. But basically, you sell gold when gold is expensive in comparison to other assets. So when stocks get cheap enough, i'll sell my gold in for a particular sector of stocks. Maybe there will be some new alternative energy stuff that looks promising in a few years, and my gold will be so valuable then, that i'll be able to buy up a lot of stocks in undervalued companies. this will likely occur when the DOW:Gold ratio goes to 1:1
