What's your opinion on laser sights?

I just watched that video today.

My dad sold a bunch of lasers Laser Devices to the Mexican military about a decade ago. I still have about 20 and they work perfectly still. I personally don't have much use for them, the only add on I have on my pistol is a flashlight for home defense at night. Most of the apartment is open plan so a flashlight is good enough.

Both times I have had to draw my carry piece in a hostile situation, the fact that I "lit up" the aggressor(s) with the laser dot, greatly helped the rapid de-fusing and de-escalation of the problem at hand, without a shot being fired.

I think a person should become comfortable with iron sights before they employ either a scope or laser.

Once you're able to shoot with a modicum of consistency then it's personal preference, especially the laser on a pistol.

Seems like a flashlight is just saying, "here I am" to somebody who also has a pistol.

You ideally want a flashlight on a home defense pistol that you can turn off and on quickly. This will allow you to do two things.
1. CONFIRM your target is a threat. You do not want to shoot at something and not know what it is.
2. Blind the target if it is a threat.
If you are concerned about "here I am" then you need to approach with potential targets from a safe distance to prevent being disarmed.

That is the only use I see for them. No gadget will make you a better shooter than you are.

The only laser I'd bother with would be the infrared kind that can be seen through night vision goggles. Other than that, I prefer something like an Aimpoint T-1 red dot.

I have had the same effect "Open Carry",, by just removing the hammer strap.

Never had to clear leather.

The only use for Lasers is fast target acquisition,, for multiple targets in a fast moving combat situation.
In a Hunter/hunted situation,, it would give your position away. (not helpful)

I'm afraid if I tried that, the next thing I knew, I'd be picked up by the cops for brandishing a firearm. Around here, all somebody has to do is report somebody holding a pistol and the next thing you know, the person is picked up for brandishing.
