I love cantaloupe. When I was a kid and my dad took us to the Farmers Market there was an old man who used to hawk his melons. He would call out, 'If your honey's dew, ya cantaloupe.' and "watermelon, watermelon, red to rind, sweet all the time.'![]()
I got mine from the farmers market too. The woman said to put salt on it and it'll be good. I was like wtf. I'm not putting salt on my cantaloupe. Well...I didn't say that. I was just thinking it to myself. Scwewy...
It's hard to find a good watermelon, though. You know like the nice gritty ones that are super sweet? Juice dribbling down yer chest and belly? Heh...

LOL spoken like someone who has never tried it, and makes a judgement without knowledge.
You don't use a lot of salt. Juuuuuust a bare minute dusting. It doesn't make the melon taste salty, it enhances the natural flavor that is already there. A watermelon with a barely perceptible amount of salt, tastes twice as watermelon-y as the same melon without. If you can taste 'salt' at all you've used too much. You should probably actually try it before passing judgement. Otherwise, those who know better are going to take you for someone who speaks as though they have knowledge of things they have never actually experienced.
I don't think I've ever had a melon without salt, so I suppose I can't counter his preference.![]()
Don't barf on me now here because I'm making fried chicken livers tonight for myself. I don't know why I love those so much--I just do. I hated liver when I was a kid. Mom would put that stuff on my plate and I'd slip it right into my underwear while they weren't looking and unload it in the toilet. They wouldn't let us get up until we ate that--Lol Now I love liver that's fried either with flour, egg and panko or just in flour and butter with some seasoning. I could eat a bucket of it.![]()

Chicken livers are actually one of my favorite things. They're good.
LOL I have, and if you use juuust a smidgen of salt, not enough to taste salty of course, all it does is multiply the existing natural flavor. If you have only ever had it salted, try it unsalted and it will be the same, but with less flavor.

My mom and brothers love chicken livers but I can't stand liver. It's one of the few things I won't put in my mouth.
