What will Ron Paul supporters (non-delegates) be doing in Tampa during the convention?

Way to derail. LOL

Which part? The part where we were informing the OP about Disney (cost both financial and otherwise)? Or the part where I pointed out the Convention is what's in Tampa, since that one poster did not seem to know?

* * *

As for the time actually DURING the Convention, I would hope that people would be nicely-dressed and hopping around behind whatever reporters happen to be seen out and about with a camera. Be a visible presence and support base for Ron Paul. When it's not actually Convention time, explore the area. Don't go too far (it can be easy to get lost). Don't get involved in tourist traps unless you've planned ahead and booked a package deal, and even then it's not worth it imo.

Don't hate on me because the OP was originally inclined to go to DW, I just encouraged him since it's likely his and hers first time. My point was, don't travel across the world and miss an attraction to go spend money at a fricking farmers market. All theme parks have ridiculous prices as do many sports venues.

Y u no like farmers market? Take in the local fare. Why spend ur money at corporations that represent the fascists. They own abc and espn. Both are distractions and mouth pieces for the jingoists. Disney is evil plain and simple. OP should buy from locial freedom loving citizens directly. I had a thread on this a little while ago... we should figure out how to get lay people inside.

You're too worried about getting bilked to have a good time. Its a vacation and your a tourist, your going to get hacked. Its all a part of the fun. XD

I don't understand most of your post. I think you're saying that if I relax, the thievery will feel much nicer. I just don't see the appeal of theme parks. It's not a matter of money (I spend mine freely and happily) so much as value. I used to enjoy going to Busch Gardens and Sea World in particular, but honestly at around the time each ride sprouted its own gift shop, it was no longer that fun.

I also plan my vacations ahead of time, or at least the big-ticket portions of them. If someone who really wants to go to Disney does this, they can get some okay deals. If they don't, and are trying to book things on the spot, they're going to be spending more and getting less.

If you want to take in the local fare, it won't be a farmer's market. Those don't really happen in the Tampa area. And I wouldn't recommend gulf shrimp, either. Better off hitting a cuban sandwich shop if you want something local. There are tons of very nice independently owned restaurants in the area in all price ranges, and shorts are appropriate dress almost everywhere.

Yeah, there is plenty to do down here in Tampa, check us out on our facebook page "Tampabay for Ron Paul". We do meet ups, sign waving, picnics. As for what is going on during the week of the convention.. If you dont wanna deal with the hype of Disney, I wouldnt personally, unless you have kids,but there are local beaches here that are to die for such as Clearwater, Indian Rocks and if you wanna take a one hour trip south to Sarasota you can find one of the best beaches in the nation (Holmes Beach/Anna Maria Island) with its white powdery sand, and crystal clear waters. But if you wanna support local restaurants, there are plenty throughout the bay area but definetely do not leave till you have tried one of our cuban sandwiches. But other areas to check out is Ybor City, Channelside District and downtown St Pete. Good night life, great restaurants...

Thanks for all the comments.

I get the whole thing with supporting local farmers' markets and they're great to support but the thing is that farmers' markets don't have super-fast butt-clenching rollarcoasters, do they? ;)

Thanks for the link to the Facebook group - I've just joined.

Also... can non-vets march in the vets' march? Cheers. :)

I mentioned that they don't happen in Tampa, but they also don't happen in Orlando, either. Don't bother yourself with that decision. lol. If you find a "farmer's market," shoot me a PM and let me know where. I'm interested, but the people promoting that likely don't know the area.

if you get to go riding rollercoasters. I say the entrance fee pays for itself after the 4th-100th ride:) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nwg5nWW1hps<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nwg5nWW1hps">
