What went wrong, my humble opinion

An ad where the candidate speaks is so much more powerful! But we got creamed in NV (yes, 13% is creamed, even if it is 2nd place) and SC because Dr. Paul keeps speaking about Empires & Nation Building instead of America First. He doesn't have to change the message, just the presentation.

Good Job SC!

Our fellow patriots in SC have shown true grit. Send us your signs westward and to other states for reuse! We will use your embattled SC signs to wage the war further to every state yet to vote! We band together and carry forward the revolution from IO, to NH, to NV and SC !! We will not rest, will not grow weary, support ourselves and the cause. Send on your signs to FL and beat the Ghoul in his home state. What better way for SC to have redemption!?!?
Viva La Revolution!

he wouldve done better just mailing a postcard with big letters that says "End Iraq War. Vote Ron Paul" and on the other side saying he is the only major candidate on either parties who would end the war immediately. That wouldve resulted in higher than 4%.

That would do no good.. South Carolina is the home for the military industrial complex.. The people there want WARS because wars = money and employment.. Hence the McCain votes

.

SC voting machines not set to zero before voting started
Sun, 01/20/2008 - 00:14 - Wire Services

The voting machines in Horry County, South Carolina were not reset to zero before the first voters came to cast their ballots, the state's Election Commission admitted today.

The Commission stated that the technicians perform a "clear and test" procedure on all machines prior to the machines accepting votes, but in this case, it was not carried out before people arrived at the precincts to vote.

"This resets the test votes recorded on the machine to zero," a press release by the Commission read. "Without performing this measure, the voting system will not allow machines to be opened for voting on election day."

But the Commission blamed the delay on human error, even though Election Systems & Software voting machines used in South Carolina were decertified by the California Secretary of State last year, after the company refused to provide information necessary to review the voting systems, as required by state law.

"Some voters cast paper ballots today in 15-20 precincts because voting machines were not ready to accept votes," the Commission stated. "This issue was due to a human error in preparing the machines for the primary.

The 2008 Primary season has been wracked by allegations of vote fraud stemming from the use of unreliable and easily hackable voting machines belonging to Diebold and ES&S and other vendors.

New Hampshire was forced to carry out a state-wide manual recount after discrepancies emerged between hand counted and machine counted votes.

You did good work. We beat Guiliani. Thank you for your hard work! We should look at this as a learning experience and move on to Florida. What do we need to do in Florida?

Yes, the ads are still a problem.

But, I think this was the biggest problem in SC, we didn't get out the young vote:

10% age 18-29

23% age 30-44

The exit poll showed that 67 percent of the voters in the Republican SC primary were over the age of 45.

We failed to get out the young vote for some reason in this state.

That's the answer right there.

This is a fact Molly1. You hit the nail on the head.

I went by my poll several times yesterday and all I saw were people my age. 50+

I'm in Horry County, Myrtle beach and I'm still not 100% positive all the votes got counted here.

But as you said, the younger people did not get out to vote from what I could see. And I don't really think weather was much of an excuse because all it did here was rain.

I have several close friends ages 25-35 that I tried hard to get to the polls. Their excuses? "It doesn't matter who I vote for, McCain will win" I heard this 4 times yesterday.

That's the mentality of the younger voters I talked to. "It doesn't matter". It did me no good to talk up Dr. Paul. Hell, I could have been talking up any candidate and the results would have been the same. "It doesn't matter".

Uggh!!!

I'll tell you what went wrong.
#1 The campagn manager and staff are a bunch of rookies and don't know anything about winning a campain. I know this is harsh but it is the truth. I live in SC and the campain from the higher ups was disorganzed, they can't even get his schedule right.
#2 The campagn didn't run any tv ads until Jan 1st and they they didn't run enough, and none on some stations that should have had ads. I watched CNN for 5 hours the night of the Mi primary and there was not one RP ad but there was several ads for other candidates.
#3 People up top have a problem listening to others because they want to come up with the idea themselves. They wouldn't hire the right people who have worked on campagns and knew what they were doing.
These are some of the main reasons that the campagn has done so poorly in all these states. The MSM isn't going to give him coverage so you have to buy it and A lot of it.
The grass roots here in SC including myself busted are ass here and are proud of the work we did. With Dr. Paul's message, A warchest of money, very strong grass roots, there is no reason why this campagn can't produce A top 2 candidate. I beleive the campagn is actully hurting Dr. Paul. These are just my opinons and I have to rant A little after all the work we have done. I will continue to fight for Dr. Paul

You're absolutely correct.

Ron Paul should be in the top 3 candidates everywhere period. It is certainly without doubt the campaign staff that is the problem. I hope and pray if the next Ron Paul type candidate is found soon that they don't hire Paul's current staff- not even a single one of them.

The ads were actually really good here in SC, for like one or two weeks before the election lol. They started them just in time to waste some money!

The other ads were not that great except for Thompson's. His were outstanding in my opinion.

The campaign just had terrible organization here. The guy in charge of the Myrtle Beach area wasn't even sure of his position in the structure of the campaign staff. He knew his title, but not who he was over or under lol.

But the grassroots worked extremely hard and did very well in my opinion. We didn't have that many people to work with, but what we had did work very, very hard, especially some people.

So I would have to say for Paul, his campaign in SC WAS about 6-8 meetup groups overall. Not a paid staff, not effective advertising, not speaking appearances, not organization, just pure grassroots. His finish here above Giuliani was on the backs of mainly a few people pulling the grassroots together in SC and leading us in our efforts.

Actually, he needs to focus on three issues: Taxes. Federal Spending. Abortion.

Those three issues are deeply rooted in conservative/republican philosophy, and he kicks ass on all three. Most of the "base" sees him as an anti-war guy and that's it.

Start pounding the drum that the republican base actually dances to.
