Newt Gingrich What was Newt's position on Israel bombing Iraq's nuclear sites?

lol@coma. I agree with you. If someone else is better at google searches, please join in.

It should be in the federal register.

Sailingaway,
I went there and 1994 is as far back as they go. I do not think there was a formal vote by the house, but they may have expressed views on the action.

Does anyone have a Washington paper or Georgia newspaper subscription that would have online archives to show what Newt said back then? Newt was not that well known by 1981, was he?

This Israel action in 1981 I think is important since we have a somewhat similar scenario now and this could help out Paul with Jewish voters.

Thanks,
Fletch

I am trying to find out too, specially after the attack Newt made against Ron Paul yesterday.

It may have been some wording in HR 159 from June 16th. I can't find the text of this Resolution that only Ron Paul voted against. The title has to do with Lebanon, but you know how congress works, it may have condemned Israel within the resolution.

The other possibility is of a non recorded vote.

I would think the campaign staff would hire someone to get this info ASAP as it could be political gold.

I've spent a few good hours researching this, and with no results.
Upon emailing some connected with the campaign, I get no answers that provided real answers.

Also, there is no quote that I can find of RP speaking for/against this specific action in "A Foreign Policy of Freedom", though he does refer to Israel as an "ally" at one point, in keeping with his same consistent message over the last 30 years.
