George Step: Should we repeal the minimum wage law?

Rand: No, its a settled question. But let me say this. Under the constitution, States, counties or local government can enact minimum wage laws, but when federal government gets involved in every single economic issue, it sets a dangerous precedent of unconstitutional power grab that could lead to loss of liberty.

I am in favor of decentralization and local control, local decisions.

That answer probably would have played better with those who don't know much about economics. He should've mentioned that. I definitely agreed with him on what he originally said, but it's hard to pick the right words to use to avoid blowing off voters. This is why I'd probably never run for office. I'd be too honest and be destroyed immediately.

Are you completely daft? His answer was fine, but he should really just have laughed at the question and said the truth, which is that the minimum wage law is one of the most ridiculous laws ever passed and that not even the majority of main stream economists agree with it. Price controls do not fucking work.

"George, are you in favor of 1.5 trillion dollar deficits that will have to be paid by our children?"

"George, first off, I'm tired of seeing our country run 1.5 trillion dollar deficits that will have to be paid by our children, that's the number one reason I run for office!"

"I'm also tired of pork laced earmarks, career politicians and politics as usual from Washington D.C."

"Now, what was your question?"
