Is there any hope for Ron Paul or his ideas when we have articles like this?

excerpts:
It all started when sophomore Skylar Stains decided to have Peace Shirt Thursdays... But what started out as a light-hearted gesture soon started to be taken out of context. Students started approaching the group members, yelling obscene things at them, said Lauren....

"Someone taped an 'I Love Bush' sign over my 'Wage Peace' sign," she said. "So I tore it down, threw it away, and the whole commons starting booing. I walk by later and find that someone has completely tore my sign down and placed an 'I Love America, Because America Loves War' sign up.'"

Soon, a second group started to wear Confederate flag shirts to oppose the peace group, Skylar said. She saw shirts with sayings such as "This is America, get used to it," and "If peace is the answer; it must be a stupid question."

"Now there are even 'support our troops' kids who don't like us because I guess they think you can't say peace and support the troops at the same time," Lauren said.

What is wrong with our species!? These are junior high school kids! This article is horrible in so many ways... Not only do these kids actively SUPPORT war, but they are going out of their way to harrass and be belligerent towards students promoting peace? You have got to be kidding me.

This is scary. I mean, it's scary because they aren't even supporting war because they are afraid of terrorists, or because they think we can fix iraq, or whatever (which is what a lot of republicans think). No, they just support WAR! They ACTIVELY oppose peace. They don't support war for misguided reasons, they really just like to be at war. These little bastards should be the first ones drafted.

Especially the kid with the "this is america, get used to it" shirt. How about we put his ass in Iraq? "This is war, get used to it."

That's what we are up against. Dig in. Recommit. Make it happen.

I was the exact same way in Junior high. Puberty hits, you really dont think for shit. By highschool, most people grow a bit up, and start becoming more liberal and anti-govt', or they become drop outs and druggies/whores (nothing agians't smart druggies (Who do exsist)), who's thoughts are never really taken seriously.

AT LEAST, where I live, thats how its panning out. I hope thats how it goes there, 2.

Could it be a lack of graphic images of the war's consequences in the media?

If you don't see the war, you don't see what's wrong with it.

Orwell... 1984 must have seen the future.. war is peace.
It's out job to "make it ain't so."

the media really does hide the gruesomeness of this war...

Media does hide the gruesome reality.

And yet...

the media is chock full of ultra-realistic fantasies of gory violence. Film and video game violence so gory it often exceeds the gore of reality.

So I think this is too simplistic. It's not so much that people don't see gore, it's more that the victims of fantasy gore in the media are usually not presented as deserving of empathy. The bad guys get blown up and dismembered. It's relatively rare that a film will show a sympathetic character as the victim of ultra-violence. Americans don't usually go for that.

People have been desensitized to it. It's not because of the media or video games, though I am sure it doesn't help. It's because those children's parents let the government schools teach them their morals.

Not saying that my parents were any better, but for some reason I have always questioned anything put in front of me. Thank goodness!

Well good, if these chaps support war so much, im sure theyll be the first to enlist when they turn 18. Actually maybe we should lower the age to 16 so they can get their fix now! I'm sure they will make brave fodder erm i mean soldiers for the State.

this is real and this is common. I get called the meanest things while playing video games online because I have Ron Paul in my nickname.
